  1. Congrats on landing it Dave.
  2. Dakotaskin, if you really want some advice on the value of the car you will need to describe it in much more detail. What model is it IE Special, Century, Super or Roadmaster, how many doors, is it a hard top or does it have a post in the windows between the front and rear seats. Pictures would help tremendously. If you have trouble posting them here, if you can email them to me at 1954buick@gmail.com I'll be glad to post them for you. Please click this link and go there and read the rules for posting in the Buy/Sale forum > http://forums.aaca.org/f117/please-read-guide-buick-buy-sell-343863.html
  3. What they said.......... please read > http://forums.aaca.org/f117/please-read-guide-buick-buy-sell-343863.html
  4. Congrats on gettin that baby home. Did the owner of the truck have anything to say about the drivers seat being pinched in the middle when you returned the truck. Are you sure the car hadn't shifted to one side before the fishtailing began, 'cause I'm speculatin that when you made the turn onto the other road is when the car shifted and because the weight was not centered on the trailer any longer it caused it to sway. Lots of things can start a trailer to fishtailing, such as heavy winds or winds from a passing semi, or letting off the gas at a certain speed. Waking up and jerking it back onto the road can do it also. Good thing the rocker panel cleared the fenders or you'd have some puttying to do. 54 and 55 sweepspears, same series, interchange. Before you buy one let me check in the barn. She sho is perty.
  5. Ha, I just happend to have this discussion Wednesday when I stopped by Professor Nailheads aka Bill Bicknell, up in Rolla MO, on my way back from Kansas City and picking up a little Special 2 dr sedan. He has restored a number of 53 Skylarks and while we were checking out my little Special, we just happened to enter into the discussion of aligning hoods on '53's. Simply stated, on a '53, you install the hood first, get it perfectly aligned at the rear then install the fenders around it. He told and explained the complete process but that is it in a nutshell. I told him I thought you were having some problems and that I might have you get in touch with him. I will pm you his contact info.
  6. Driving up I-24 though Tennessee today through the highways cut through stone and the Redbuds and Dogwoods in full bloom heading to Kansas City to pick up another '54, white line fever came on strong and I called Mike to offer to be copilot for him on the trip and share hotel expenses. With over 100,000 miles hauling 54 Buicks home to Georgia from places like Paradise Ca, North Dakota, Kansas x3, New York/New Jersey x2, Boston, Alabama x3 and Texas more times than I can remember plus all the trips Robert E, the Landau and I have taken over the last 3-4 year I figured Mike could handle the humor and I could handle the driving. Called the warden to get her OK, signed in to the internet from a cheap hotel room out of Nashville and read this....the job is already taken. Oh well, maybe another time Mikey.
  7. Welcome aboard TexasJohn. You should join up with the Texas Road Warriors when you get that fitty fibe runnin and head to South Bend or maybe next year to Portland.
  8. Welcome aboard Terry and thanks for stopping in and introducing yourself. Look forward to seeing and hearing about the Skylark. Hope to see it in the Me and My Buick Forum and also maybe over on the '54 Buick Highway 1954 Buick Highway - Welcome to the 1954 Buick Highway!
  9. found on the HAMB $45 free shpng 1952 buick hood emblem original - THE H.A.M.B.
  10. this one has been waiting under cover all winter long amidst all that snow and ice so better go after her first. Looks like I'll be pulling a bouncy ass empty trailer all the way though. Still planning a trip over to SC though
  11. He gave his phone number, call him and see if he sold them 9 years ago.
  12. I will start the official "Look Who's Coming to Breakfast in Soutbend" thread when I return from Kansas City, with something that I don't have one of, next weekend.
  13. I am not seeing any pictures in post # 857 above. Am I the only one. All I see are 4 small green and blue boxes. I see these quite often. Am I missing something? Like a program tha's suppose to open them up or something
  14. these days....who knows, I think both cases might apply.....
  15. I think I followed it and yes it would be a cast iron housing as I "think" the 56 was the first year for an aluminum bell housing.
  16. so JUST for clarification Willy, what you're saying is the length of the 56 Dynaflow matches the length of the 54 and 55 big series Dynaflow's but would be too long for the small series 54/55?
  17. Empty trailer leaving Athens GA Monday morning heading to Independence Mo. Trailer and/or enclosed pick up bed. Going through Chattanooga, Nashville, Paducah, St. Louis. email me 1954buick at gmail dot com if you got something that needs a ride. Can bring something back south in the camper bed if needed.
  18. If you already have 5 Buicks and live in the suburbs, it may behoove you to STAY in the suburbs. You don't even have to ask how I know that....
  19. Believe me Robert, the moderator did EVERYBODY a favor deleting that one. Right Bleach, right Dave? Now on with the show. Man I love the rear fenders on these forty nines
  20. Ron I tried your directions for the signature but what I want to do is bring all my text down beside the picture and when I tried, one line comes out beside it and the rest below. But I won't hijack this thread and will instead maybe start another thread dealing for help with it. I did go to your gallery and oh man what a beautiful interior and the tach in the console IN 1963, awesome. And in keeping with the subject, I've never noticed the Wildcat emblem on the door panel.
