  1. No, you can only be certified (I assume for HPOF) at a national meet such as the one in Gettysburg at the end of May. Our judging is for the top three cars in each class.
  2. Just a reminder that the show is only two weeks away.
  3. Yes, we have 15 judging classes plus HPOF and modified classes. They are based on the AACA classes but can be modified if necessary. Usually, we do not have to do that. However, if 50 Mustangs showed up, then we might have to change them. Judging is done by club members usually starting around noon with results around 2:30-3:00. The top three cars in each class are given a trophy. If you have any questions, you may drop me a line at njaaca@hotmail.com or go to http://local.aaca.org/njaaca/
  4. Yes, I noticed that the club will now be devoted to cars that are newer than 25 years which will make all of our newer cars eligible. That means we can get rid of our old cars and drive something more comfortable to the meets. Also parts availability is much better now. Those secret board meeting results are now out in the open. Although the decision to hold the annual meeting in Croatia may make it more difficult to attend the meeting. I do applaud holding the Eastern National Fall Meet in Aspen in January instead of October in Hershey will give us more things to do than just sitting around Hershey. We will be able to ski to the flea market spots. I applaud the BOD for this decision although I did not see that in the magazine, but I expect it will be in the next issue.
  5. The NJ Region AACA will be holding its 58th annual car show, flea market, and car corral in Florham Park, NJ (near Morristown just off I-287, not far from I-80). This is a judged show (optional for judging or just showing) with more than 250 cars expected. If you want to come as a spectator, the donation price of $2.00 is one of the best buys for car shows. More information can be found at http://local.aaca.org/njaaca/events.htm, email njaaca@hotmail.com, or call 732-873-3094.

  8. You should be able to go to about any paint supplier and they will be able to match it. Since that is a PPG number, they should be able to match it. If not, try a Dupont dealer as they have most old paint codes.
  9. Unfortunately, they do conflict. However, they primarily serve two different areas. The southern NJ meet is much larger but is far away from northern NJ although there is certainly some overlap. Perhaps next year the dates can be different.
  10. If anyone has an AC bracket for a 1963 Nova, please let me know. I have a friend who is in need of one. Thanks, Bill
  11. Yes, it is a good meet. The former place that had it was a high school that had some construction so they had a couple of years when it was not held. In addition they also had to find a new place. This is the second year at this location and the flea market is building up again after a hiatus.
  12. 43rd Antique Automobile Flea Market, Long Hill Community Center, South Warren Avenue, Stirling, NJ sponsored by the Watchung Chapter of the NJ Region AACA. It is conveniently off I-78 in Central NJ. Details may be found at http://local.aaca.org/watchung/. This event is rain or shine with a lot of parts from people pulling them out of their garage as opposed to mostly commercial vendors.
  13. Just to reiterate one point. When you take the canister off, make sure you get the gasket out. Also, check to make sure there are no gaskets caught up in the top of the housing as this is a not uncommon occurence. You should only have one gasket for the filter. Also, make sure you buy a fresh filter, as some of the old one may not have the "freshness" of a new one. At lease this is what I have been told. NAPA usually has about any one you would want.
  14. I too enjoyed the annual meet. The biggest problem I have is that I want to do two or three seminars that are at the same time. Has any thought ever be given to recording some of them? I guess the seminars will just have to be scheduled for me so there are no conflicts, except that everyone else would want the same thing. Good job at the annual meet.
  15. That is really nice of you. I just sent all of my red stickers to my granddaughter.
  16. March 29, 2009 rain or shine starting at 6:30 A.M. at Long Hill Community Center, South Warren Avenue, Stirling, NJ. Further information can be found at the following web sites under Events with a flyer available: http://local.aaca.org/watchung/ or http://local.aaca.org/njaaca/ Also, you can email to njaaca@hotmail.com if you desire.
  17. Aw, do I have to? Also, will I get a sticker?
  18. I have a friend in the Melbourne area who said he is not affected by the fires but has friends in the area that are fine as far as he knows. They can be very scary.
  19. I have the Pertronix in my 1961 and have been very pleased with it. I think I would have put the electronic ignition from a later Olds in it if I had known this. This refers to my previous post.
  20. The February issue of Hemmings has an article on upgrading your older ignition using an electronic ignition from a 70's car. I do not remember the details but I believe yours was covered. I lent mine to a friend so I do not have it right now. If you can not find someone with it, let me know and I will check on the copy. The article is entitled Electronic Ignition Distributors.
  21. If you have not yet, you should also post this in the Oldsmobile forum.
  22. What not to bring to the Hershey Car Corral.
