  1. If its not froze up why not lube it and put the new cyl in there. The switch has already been removed by looking at the photo.
  2. Paul Bradley in Charlotte,N.C. When I bought mine he had them in stock and I had them within a week. He makes pans for Fords and the Lincoln Zephyr.
  3. I did but it was all back together before the painting
  4. Finally done with sanding, buffing and polishing.
  5. Hi Doug, Mine came from Whirley Jig in Tn. Quality product. Done 2 39 Zephyrs on it.
  6. Pretty sure the Ford cable will fit the speedometer head.
  7. The number of teeth on the spiders are dependant to the number of teeth on the axles. They aren't all the same. Been there done that. If they aren't correct they will bind up when the ring gear is tightend up.
  8. My Columbia doesnt have a filler hole either and its not the first one ive seen like that . Every Ford unit ive seen ,and ive seen many, has the extra filler hole. Somewhere in all my literature ive read that the Lincoln units did not have the extra filler hole. It might be that the units that were factory installed did not have the extra filler hole. None of the Fords were installed at the factory but dealer installed, that might explain the difference.
  9. The Lincoln columbias does not have the second fill plug like the Ford units.
  10. Did the Zephyrs use the same fog lights as Ford in 1939?
  11. Looking for a pair of Iron 1942 Zephyr script heads.
  12. I'm interested in fabricating a pair of hooks like that for lifting the V12.
  13. Not only is it easier but the flywheel must be installed before the oil pan. It will not go on there with the pan on.
  14. The metal piece just sits on top of the transmission as shown, it gives a platform for the rubber to sit on then when the cover goes on , the sponge rubber gets samwiched between the two. Its my belief that the original seal had the metal ring vulcanized to it and was part of the seal, thats why it doesnt show up in the parts catalog. We discovered this when we removed the old seal from the transmission in a friends 39 Zephyr, to begain with it just looked like a piece of very old and deteriated rubber untill we noticed it had a rusty metal ring attached to the bottom of it. The seal we used from Macs is part # 78-7012130 37-39 passenger and 40-41 commercial vehicles. Im thinking we bought 2 of them because 1 wasnt quite thick enough.
  15. Here is a picture of the metal shield / support for the seal. I made mine from an original.
  16. There is a sponge rubber seal that goes between that and the top of the transmission. I used the one from a Ford Truck, I believe it carries a 78 prefix. Got them from Mac Ford Parts. Bought 2 of them and glued them together to get the proper thickness. There is also a metal shield that fits over the shifter tower that the seal sets on , I will post a picture of it later.
  17. I see the engine stand bolted to the rear of the block.I hope that V12 is supported on the front end also. If it is not I wouldnt get my feet in the way of it. Ive seen V8s with the bell housing broken off from using this kind of engine stand bolted to the rear and a V12 has even more weight hanging out there.
  18. This is the tool that KR Wilson made for removing and installing the valves in the V12. Works like a champ. I wonder why they never made a valve bar for the V12 like they had for the V8s. This is my V12 Im currently working on for my 39 Coupe.
  19. A bad coil wont affect the starter or cranking speed. Check or replace the starter solenoid on the firewall. They get burned and corroded inside causing a high resistance in the starting circuit.
  20. Lincoln Columbia's don't have a filler plug on the Columbia unit . Ford Columbia's does have the filler plug .
  21. Looking for a pair of V12 iron heads with the ZEPHYR logo on them.
  22. The starter solenoid could be the culprit. The contacts inside them gets burned over the years of use and that causes a high resistance. Had that to happen to me on one of my Fords a few years back.
  23. What happens if the oil relief valve sticks either open or shut ? The one im referring to is the brass one located under the intake at the rear of the engine.
  24. I like that engine lift tool. Who made it ? I have one for the V8 but I won't work with the V12.
