  1. I seem to remember that Armstrong Tire & Rubber made the Allstate tires for Sears. Rog
  2. Yes, I've seen this video before, but enjoyed it just as much this time. The only comment I can make about it is "anarchy on the road". As Gary mentioned above, you can't help but wonder how many people were killed by passing vehicles. No traffic control at all. Thanks for posting it. Rog
  3. Steve, Thanks for all those great photos. Priceless! Rog
  4. I think that most folks in the antique car hobby recognize that most of the cars drip or burn oil. Both of my antiques drip oil very slowly. Rog
  5. I have been using Marvel Mystery Oil in my 6 cyl Studebaker and I'd swear that the valves have quieted down considerably. The engine runs quietly. Rog
  6. Isn't it ironic that the Henry Ford would have, in its collection, a Selden auto? Life is strange. Rog
  7. Visiting the Nethercutt collection is on my bucket list. Those photos of the museum and cars are sensational.
  8. Yes it's sad, Pontiac built some pretty terrific cars over the years. But reality is reality. GM is fighting for its very survival. Maybe the next new car should be called the Oakland. Rog
  9. Yes, the word "best" is a loaded one. If you really mean best, I'd have to go with the Duesenberg. If value for money is the watchword, I'd have to go with the Model T, because it really did put America on wheels. Rog
  10. Wow! What a fantastic story about an exceptional man. The family has some terrific memories. The final tribute is the wonderful gravestone. Truely unique. May he rest in peace. Rog
  11. I own a number of Floyd Clymer books. In fact, I started reading his "Scrapbooks" when I was in college in the '50s. That's how I got hooked on antique cars and am still hooked now that I'm in my 70s. Rog
  12. Nobody had mentioned looking in Hemmings Motor News. Who knows, you might get lucky. Rog
  13. You did a beautiful job on the car. The color is great! Rog
  14. Steve, Many thanks for posting those great photos. What beautiful cars! Rog
  15. Austin Clark was an interesting person and we, on Long Island, were truly fortunate to have him in our midst. I remember, back in the '60s, driving out to Southampton many times to visit his museum. I bought a bunch of picture post cards of his cars that he had for sale. The auctions that were held at the museum were fascinating. I got to look out in back in the storage quonset huts. I almost bought a 1923 Franklin that was all there, but backed out because I questioned my own ability to restore it. I remember a few years ago, Automobile Quarterly did an article about him. I think it was written by Beverly Rae Kimes. One thing about that article that stood out to me was his statement that the last pay check he ever received was when he was a Naval officer. Of all the cars that he had in his collection, the Thomas Flyer impressed me the most. Great memories. Roger
  16. Yes, Antique Automobile keeps getting better & better. I really enjoyed the color photos inside the issue. Keep it up! Rog
  17. I just want to reiterate what everyone else has been saying, GREAT JOB!!! I can't wait to see the professional video. It was an incredible feat, dealing with modern traffic across the nation. Well done. Rog
  18. With that buildup, I can't wait to see my copy. I plan to enroll my oldest son as an AACA member after he moves into his new home. He'll be pleasantly surprised. Rog
  19. Steve, You're absolutely right. I spend most of my time avoiding drivers who are talking on their celphones. I been rear ended once by a woman in a Tahoe talking on her celphone. She couldn't understand why she hit me. I wanted to strangle her. Rog
  20. As a number of you have mentioned, we've had that no hand held cell phone use in NY for a number of years. At least here, on Long Island, the law is generally ignored. Even more people are speaking on their cell phones while driving than ever before. Where's the enforcement? Perhaps this is one of those unenforcible laws. Rog
  21. Rusty, Probably the most obvious place to check this out would be the AMC club listed elsewhere on this site. Rog
  22. That lady (and car) are amazing! She's got a lot of guts to drive the distances she does without any fear of breakdowns, etc. Thanks for the video. Rog
  23. When our local Studebaker club holds its annual reunion & orphan car show (yesterday), we include, as ophans, Oldsmobile, soon Pontiac, or any car no longer made. Even though they were built by GM, they're still orphans in our eyes. Rog
  24. Your car looks like it's ready to party. Nice. I always participate in the 4th of July parades. It's just a matter of which one. The only decoration on my car is an American flag. Rog
  25. I hope the run is being videotaped by one of the networks. Probably History Channel or HBO. I'd really like to see it. Rog
