  1. Wow, the current bid on that Futureliner is more than my house is worth. Actually, you could probably live in it. Rog
  2. The Pure Oil Company and Phillips 66 had gas stations with roof designs similar to but not exactly like yours. At any rate, $20,000 seems to be a good buy, but you'll have to put money into it, especially the roofing. Good luck. Rog
  3. Now THAT'S what I call a novel approach to barbequing. I like it. Rog
  4. There's a never-ending supply of low lifes. I feel terrible to hear about the theft. Rog
  5. I've always used Westley's. After I wet the tire, I spray the Westley's on the whitewall. I use a Scotchbrite scrubbing sponge to clean off the dirt and yellowing. It works well for me. Rog
  6. The problem is that "junk" yards are rapidly disappearing here in the northeast. I always felt like I was on a treasure hunt when perusing a junk yard. I love the term, Industrial Archaeologist. Rog
  7. You should try the Studebaker Drivers Club website and click on Classifieds. Or, check out Hemmings Motor News. There are always a bunch of Studes listed for sale. Obviously, you have good taste in cars. Good luck. Rog
  8. Dave, The Studebaker StarLight coupes were and are very desirable body types among Studebaker fans. If you lived near me, I'd love to buy it from you. As someone has already suggested, clean it up and even wax it if you're going to put it up for sale. If you plan on driving it, make sure the brakes are good and give it a tune-up and change all fluids and lube the chassis. Rog
  9. Parker Wickham was a one-of-a-kind, and one of the nicest human beings I've ever met. I've been to his private museum many times, mostly with one of our antique car clubs. One time, I drove my oldest son, an airline pilot, out to see Parker's collection of cars. When I introduced Scott to Parker, Scott mentioned the name of one of his college friends and Parker immediately commented that the young man worked for him when he was in high school. There was an instant bonding between Parker and Scott. Scott was invited to see the inner workings of Mattituck Aviation and Parker was his guide. As nice as Parker Wickham was, his lovely wife was just as nice. We will miss the Wickhams very much. As will the antique car hobby on Long Island. I'm sure that many of the folks on this forum have stories about their impressions of Parker Wickham. Rog
  10. I saw the new Fiat 500 at the NY Auto Show a little over a week ago. Cute car. Rog
  11. You can also try Studebaker International. You can access them from the Studebaker Drivers Club website and go to the link for Studebaker vendors. Good luck. Rog
  12. I seem to remember the Knox when it was here on Long Island. I always wondered where it went. I saw that car in the late '50s at Roosevelt Raceway at an antique car meet. If it's the same car, it was referred to as a Knox Waterless. I hope it's the same car. At that meet, all the vintage cars ran around the race track in a parade. I was there with my '24 Ford T coupe. Rog
  13. I got 'em all, 100%. But then, I grew up when all those cars were new and I was a car crazy kid. Rog
  14. Wow! Someone got a bargain. The stuff it needs can easily be obtained. Rog
  15. I'm not sure, but the styling may be due to Duncan McCrae (not sure of the spelling). He was responsible for the '59 Studebaker Lark styling. Rog
  16. I never realized how extensive the collection is at the Seal Cove Museum. I've been to the Owls Head Museum and didn't realize, at that time, how close Seal Cove was. It looks like a destination trip for me in the future. Many thanks. Rog
  17. Vito, Is your Studebaker the one that Vince Massucci had? That's a beautiful car. Roger Price
  18. Wow! You've bought yourself a gorgeous car. Best of luck with it. I believe the key on the front passenger door was fairly common. Of course, the idea being that it's safer to enter the car on the passenger side. The fact that the chrome was all done, is a big plus. Don't know the answer to the paint question. I would recommend that you join the Studebaker Drivers Club and/or the Antique Studebaker Club. Here is where you'll get all the answers you need. Both have websites and you can access them through Google. Rog
  19. I bought a set of Cooper whitewall radials for my Studebaker Lark last summer. They're 205x75R 15 tires. They ride beautifully. Rog
  20. I have no problem with 4 door cars. In fact, some 4 door cars seem to have better proportions than their 2 door brothers. I've advised many people, who wish to enter the antique car hobby, to look at 4 door cars because their acquisition cost is less. Very often, people are put off by the high prices of the hardtops and convertibles. Rog:)
  21. Growing up on Long Island, we always waited to hear the bells of the Good Humor man making his rounds. But he had some competition from the Bungalow Bar and Eskimo Pie trucks. Somehow, the ice cream tasted better coming from one of those trucks. Thanks for the memories. Rog
  22. I have the one just above the stack of tires. I got it from a Firestone dealer in the early '60s. Rog
  23. Dave, Can you tell us how prints can be obtained? Beautiful picture! Rog
  24. Unfortunately, I haven't received my copy yet here on Long Island. Hope springs eternal. Rog
