  1. Nic go to www.autopedia.com and look up the car. lots of info on recalls and TSB along with public compaints. It would be worth your time.
  2. Jim make sure when you remove the tail light you put rags over the painted area just below the light. The light does come straight out but it should be on short cables attached to the light and the body of the car and it tends to drop rather quickly towards the bumper and in the process it will scratch the paint. Take it slow and you will find it to be quite easy Chuck
  3. very nice clean car, you should be very proud of it
  4. The problem with Maaco is no matter how thick the paint is its still the prep that counts. with out good blocking no matter who paints it it will look like a Maaco job. our Reattas are too good for that
  5. I would think that #600 wet dry is far too course, you need to use wet dry #2000 and the a good polishing compound. using 600 will get you into the paint very quickly and if you do at that point, you dont have a lot of options. If your clear is broken, it will start to peel and you will have to repaint. I would suppose that you could try to respray a section of clear but you would have to use a good clear coat activator if you have any chances of it working
  6. It would depend if it can be sanded and polished or if it is really in the clear? Most of the time I am able to sand and then polish you will want to use a hookit II 3000 grit disc pad made by 3M and then a good polish. 3M also makes a good one. If you use the hookit pad make sure you trim the plastic ring away from the pad so you do not scar the paint. good luck it is really easy to remove small scratches that way, but if it is a clear coat crack you will have to repaint. That is always the best way. By the way dont be shocked when you get the cost of the red paint.........close to $100.00 a quart.
  7. I use Grundy and insure 2 cars for aroung 350.00 per year for both cars. Your coverage sounds about right Mine says that any driver must be 25 years old, unlimited mileage and I cant race it other than that the same
  8. Nothin it dont even cuss back. even when it has a bad day
  9. Just think of the cowl shake now
  10. I have a hard time looking at e-bay these days with all of the mis information on Reatta items. I cant believe that a patch that was once on a floor mat is now a RARE Jacket patch. It does not stop there, every day some one is trying to pick flies out of horse s***. I intend to challange every e-bay ad that is wrong in the future and I would like some company. We need to make sure that these sellers are telling the truth. In the future some one will have to tell a bigger story and try to make some who just got the car to sell their stuff. Its time for Reatta owners to UNITE FOR "TRUTH JUSTICE AND THE AMERICAN WAY" Booreatta from the Heartland
  11. Kansas passed that same law a couple of years ago and lots of people challanged in court and the law was resended. Lots of refunds were made to buyers. Fight that law, you will win in the long run. Good Luck
  12. I have one of the models but I do not have the base. If anyone finds a wood base please let me know. I know that there is a base with out a car out there somewhere. BOO
  13. I have Grundy coverage on both of my cars and the cost is around $380.00 per year for both cars. They will not allow a driver under 25. Not a bad deal if you are old enough Boo
  14. Sorry did not have camera and the only shot I got was on my palm, there is a good shot in the book I talked about in the above post. the isbn number is 1-59971-270-9 if anyone wants to look for the book
  15. I have always heard of the Reatta that was customized by Daryl Starbird, but I have not seen it till today. The car is a 1989 red with tan interior, with a sunroof. The car has had the front changed a lot and looks a lot like the Viper, while the rear is not change very much. The tail lights were left in tact with the BUICK letters still there. I looks nice and can be seen at The National Rod and Custom car Hall of Fame in Afton Oklahoma along with lots of the custom cars of the past. Other cars of note are the Big T that was built for the Monogram Model Company. It is a great place to visit. There is also a new book out called "Darryl Starbird the Bubble Top King Custom Car Creations" . The Starbird family has done a lot of customs over the years and when you see them you go oh I wondered who did that. The name of the Reatta has been changed and now called the '89 Buick Riatta. and the car was done by his youngest son Rick Starbird. I was hard to read the VIN but the last 6 digits are 901675 and Barney It is Not in the data base.
  16. The world as we knew when we grew up has changed. There is little value placed on human or animal life anymore, just watch the tv. I think that we all wish for a safer world but we as the adults of the world MUST find a way to make our schools safe. The kids are our future and we have to find a way no matter how many toes get stepped on. WE NEED TOUGHER LAWS AND LET THE TEACHERS TEACH AND PUNISH THE KIDS THAT ARE OUT OF CONTROL. IT WORKED 40 YEARS AGO AND IT WILL WORK NOW.I is really sad to hear what is going everywhere and Tammy you are correct, I can and will happen anywhere if our society cant or wont fix it. Stay safe BOO
