    Motor Oil

From all of the research that I have seen the above post is right on at summer temps the higher vis at 40 would be somewhat better than 30 the lower end of 10 wont make any difference in warm temps...now in the winter the 5 vis is prefered due to the fact that is is thiner in cold temps and will lube somewhat faster thus less friction and wear at freezing temps. On the other hadd the 10w40 is great for hot weather. your mechanic is looking after your car ok
  3. In doing some research on the caps last year prior to the nationals in Plano, the information that I found out was that the 88-90 had grey caps that had domed tops ribbed sides and the cap on the spare was ribbed on the sides and had an air adjustment point on the top and was grey also. the 91 had black plastic ribbed side caps and the top was domed also. The trunk had the same grey cap from all of the information that I was able to find, however there were some questions about the trunk. If yours is a one owner maybe you have the answer to that question
  4. Once again the english language got me again...who would have thought that anyone would ask about any old glass on a Reatta Discussion group site..I will consider my hands slapped.....I thought that most folks were talking about REATTAS which is why we are here in the first place, huh huh huh???????
  5. I am with you as far as I know there was never a wiper on the back window of a Reatta. If there was someone please post a photo [color:\\"red\\"] [color:\\"red\\"]

    A/C Woes

Howard last summer my compresser shut down and the crt said that the system needed service and I got to talking to my mechanic about a different car and I told him what the ac was doing. He told me to bring it by and he unhooked the battery and charged the system with a product called freeze 12. I have had several people tell me that it will mess us the system, but guess what the system was not working before and it does now. I was afraid that it might not work this season but I got the car our this weekend and it worked like a champ, and the temp hit 100. You might want to check it out. Oh by the way he only charged me around 40.00. Then other est I had was around a grand and it was to change all of the parts that you mentioned. with the freeze 12 I dont think he had to change anything. Good luck
  8. The best stuff that I have ever used is Z-14 plastic magic cleaner and polish available at www.zainostore.com. I have used all most all of their products at one time or another and have always been happy with the results.
  9. But Jim why cant you find any blue, Mine need to be replaced thanks Booreatta
  10. Stan, there is no reason that you need to defend yourself, when I started to get my car ready for the Nationals in Plano I used the book as a guide to get as many things right as I could. It was the only source of information that I could find, and while I dont totally agree with everything that the judges look at, it is still the standard of the BCA. I dont think that we can change the way the BCA thinks so if we are going to enter our cars there then we need to accept their rules. I agree with a peoples choice award but not all shows are going to be that way. For my 2 cents I dont think that winning an award is a big deal. What I think is important is keeping as many of these cars in good shape for future generations. The time will come when we all will say "remember when the car was new and try to remember what kind of tire and valve stem caps the car came out of the factory with, somebody will remember because of the book and this discussion page. I thank you for taking the time to write the manual and everyone can use it as they see fit
  11. Hang in there I have been looking for a Blue mat for an 89 for several years, and I know that one will show up somewhere. If I find a grey one I will let you know and if you find any blue ones, I would like both sides I will let you know
  12. If you have the correct floormats in blue I am interested. contact me at igor@wichitausa.com thanks
  13. Padgett you are right I can see both sides and I agree that the requirements should be more exact, but then again it is a hobby, and you are right we are supposed to have fun. For me it is always better to be on the outside looking in, I learn more. Chuck
  14. Padgett, You are right it is bad english, sorry but I left out a word. It should have read "One point is deducted for each tire which was not a factory authorized option for model and year." The rest of the information was correct as printed in the 1988-1991 Reatta Judging manual as revised in May of 2002. I can only assume that the rest is correct, but the question was how the car was judged and I went to the book for the answer.
  15. Nic,the following is taken from the Reatta Judging manual: All factory equipped tires were blackwall radial tires The 1988-1990 factory equipped tire was a Goodyear Eagle GT+4 blackwall radial. The P215-65R size used on all 1988-1990 Reattas(except the select sixty) had outlined black letters on one side only. Factory installation mounted the tires with the outlined black letters on the back side The 1991 factory equipped tire was a Goodyear Eagle GA blackwall radial with black serrated letters on both sides. The factory equipped spare tire was a compact type, but not visible for judging. No other optional tire types were available One point is deducted for each tire which was not a factory authorized for model and year. The 1990 Select Sixty convertible factory equipped tire was P215-60R16 The 1991 factory equipped tire size was P215-60R16

On the right side of the drivers seat and the left side of the passengers seat there is a little rubber band affair attached and I have never paid any attention to it, when the other day a friend and I had taken out the drivers seat to check out why the seat was not working properly and there was the little rubber band afair....I said (like a fool) what is that for...well' my friend said, it holds up the seat belt from falling between the seat and the consol....I should have known, as I do now..... and now you know the rest of the story...who,d have thunk it so much for the wizard???????

  24. Barney I just cant sit still any longer...My hat is off to everyone who takes the time to show a Reatta..It is a learning experience for the public not the old time car owners..the Reatta will stay a unique car as long as we care about it and take the time to explain the car..I enter mine in lots of shows every year and I am now getting several positve comments at shows..I too dont care about winning trophys but I have won several but that is not the reason I go to car shows................I go for the pretty girls and beer mmmmm what else matters
  25. This item is a heated right hand side power mirror, To my knowledge the mirrors were not heated, can any one shed some light. I dont think that mine are heated, any thoughts or is it just another wrong e-bay ad
