  1. Chuck, I think you are going to need to fabricate what you are missing. If you can get detailed pictures from one of the existing cars I know a guy in Conn that could fabricate it perfectly for you. If the door jambs are the same on the other bodies than a parts car would be helpful.

  4. Are those 35/36? I like those and also the later ones. Convertible coupe is a pretty rare car. Speaking of L29, another of my favorites is coming up for auction in April. The German bodies all look similar and the quality of material was fantastic. This is a Voll & Ruhrbeck body. Similar to a Cab "C" Sindelfingen bodied Mercedes.
  5. That is a shame. I don't know that I have ever seen one for sale. I like the Graham Blue Streak 3 windows too.
  6. I'm going to get one of those 3 window Hupps one of these days. My favorite or second favorite Cord of all time. Now hidden away in the middle east.
  7. I honestly don't recall if it sold but I think the final bid was under 10k. I think it was the long wheelbase because I thought to myself it was more impressive than the Hershey car. There are a few floating around so you just need to keep an eye out. Definitely join the club and a want ad placed in the newsletter could help.
  8. Craig, you should point out that they don't get the chassis, engine or wheels. It is a good looking replica body. The only thing that throws it off is the wheels which I can't place.
  9. Prices have certainly gone up in the last 10 years. I remember when that was a 900k car not too many years ago. I can't decide if I like the 500k Cab A or the first version of the 540k Cab A better. This particular car looks great with the painted wheels and lack of circus wagon white walls.
  10. The issue here is the long wheelbase chassis. There was a short wheel base sedan that sold at the Hershey auction a couple of years ago for 20k. There was (I think) a long wheelbase sedan on eBay earlier this year which needed a full restoration. If it was the same body as the one in this thread then you would be better off restoring the ebay car as it was 99 percent complete. However, since the car in question has some history, maybe it would make sense to use another complete car as a parts car for the restoration. As I said in my previous post, a big project!

  12. Agreed. Just by numbers, there was more than twice as many 540k + 500k + 380 MB built than Duesenberg Model J. Throw in a war and the USSR the cars were not tracked the way the Model J Duesenberg has been. The 320 was a car for the upper middle class (although at 6k+ in the U.S.A not cheap) and made in greater numbers. There could be many undiscovered or untracked 320 cars.
  13. I'll stand by my comment Of course it is possible but there really hasn't been a true discovery of a model J in 50 years. Sometimes nobody wants to admit it but every car is known by at least a few guys.
  14. Interesting to compare the "B" version of the 320 with the 4 door "D" version. The "C" version would be a victoria but I don't know that any were built on the 320 chassis. Pictured here is the "D". There was a very similar car and extremely original condition example for sale in the US a couple of years ago. As a general rule I find 2 doors more attractive than 4 doors but I think the "D" looks just as good as the "B". Perhaps the longer wheelbase does it.
  15. The red is not necessarily flattering but the 320 Cab B is an attractive car.

  17. I'm a big fan of the 32/33 Hupmobile. This car oozes cool.
  18. Here is one near and dear to my heart. Circa 1932 and in the barn circa 2005. #11 of 14 Specials & Racecars built prior to WWII by Gustav Schumacher. Ordered by a customer in 1928 on a Stutz chassis the car car took 4 years to complete. That is Gustav himself standing behind the car.
  19. That is cool and all I would do with it is wash it. Unfortunately it is probably already painted red and sliver with white wall tires.
  20. A great example of a Classic with a capital C for the price of a cheap musclecar.
