If it is a Stutz Vertical 8 the value totally depends on which model, AA, BB, M, SV, and how complete it is and what the condition is. Could be anywhere from 100 bucks to 10k.
I think the double over head cams would be a give-away if it was a DV32. Most likely Nash. Even the single over head cam AA,BB, etc Stutz engine would stand out with the overhead cam. If it is single ovehead cam Stutz then unless it is a later SV16 or M engine it is not worth a fortune. The 41k for the DV32 engine was crazy money.
I have a very small quantity of these NOS that I found for my Graham Hollywood. They are the same as 810/812 Cord. The clips go bad and then the door handle will not stay in place. Will have them at Hershey for inspections, CT-22/23.
Body, chrome & interior will be 5 times the cost of the mechanicals. Yes, you can probably save 50% by putting a crate motor in it but that is incidental to the overall cost of restoring the car. My argument is that a 4 door Sedan of any variety makes a poor rod, and a Pierce Arrow 4 door sedan is probably the worst except for maybe a RR. Sell it for what you can get and buy something finished.
Forgetting about the fact that resto-modding a Pierce is a crime, I just don't see a sedan as being a very attractive hot rod. Just not a good idea and ultimately a waste of money. Better for both you and the car to sell it for parts.
Here is a thread discussing a mystery MB: http://forums.aaca.org/f123/need-help-334370.html A picture posted in that thread of 540k with a Vanden Plas body taken at Techno Classica Essen 2012. Non Sindelfingen bodies are quite rare as the factory could build you anything you wanted and did quite a good job at it.
Last full restoration of a Cab "A" that I know of done at a profession shop was over 700k so they are not for the faint of heart or pocketbook to restore. Can't wait to see more progress.
I like the show but I would watch all of them as simply entertainment. They are staged for the most part. Reality TV is simply improv with amateur actors.
I completely agree with you on the 540K Cab A. It needs a lot of work and their asking price is not too far from the highest public price paid for a side mount Cab A.
