I agree with the “boss”………many Mustangs everywhere so stripes would make it stand out! Good Luck on the electrical gremlins……seems we all have to hunt these at times. Remember…..this is supposed to be fun! -

Really looking forward to seeing this project blog……after seeing the T Touring you restored several years ago I am sure you will do a correct and superb restoration. What a sentimental project to take on! Best of luck! -

On the road with my recently purchased 1948 Chrysler New Yorker. A thorough cleaning (inside, outside and under hood) followed by a complete tuneup, new hoses and fan belt, fluids changed, and brakes adjusted. (Thanks Keithb7 for the adjustment tool!) Now awaiting the arrival of the Diamondback radial tires to add a much needed upgrade. -

I meant that the car started life as a wagon, wood is not factory of course. -

George, Yes, appears to be a factory built 150-B. I had a ‘29 150-A about 12 years ago. The market is soft on these, the guy who bought mine is trying to sell it and is asking 6K less than he paid me. -
1937 Packard 115-c "six" sedan

I have looked at this car at a couple of car shows over the years, very nice. -
There was one of these stored in the basement of the Bayport (MN) garage for many years. The middle color was dark green and the roof color was the lighter green. It is still somewhere around the St. Croix Valley showing up at local car shows periodically. It is a spring time special edition Coronado, I have seen the original sales invoice.

My 1960 Buick LeSabre 2 Door Hardtop
Jeff Perkins / Mn replied to TexRiv_63's topic in Our Cars & Restoration Projects
My first car was a ‘60 Buick (VIN 6G4001285…..will never forget that!) and I loved it. I have always had a soft spot for those so I welcome your posting! -
Roger, I have several reliable sources for tuning information on your car. I just purchased. 1948 New Yorker and am in the process of recommissioning it. The factory setting for timing is 2 deg. ATDC. The recommended idle setting is 300 rpm. I felt that was a little low so I set mine at 350 rpm. Mine also is very quiet. I sent you a PM. Jeff P.

Update on the New Yorker…..I thoroughly cleaned the engine and compartment including the carb and linkage. I then cleaned the three electrical connections to the carb. On a whim I started the car and it idled beautifully. Idle speed and mixture were at factory recommendations. A small but satisfying victory! I guess I was born with the cleaning gene….my sister got the shopping gene. -

Drove the recently purchased New Yorker home today……97 mile trip……85 deg.F with no cooling issues. 40 lbs. oil pressure, does not drop hardly at all when idling. One problem I have is the idle is high, cannot lower it without the car dying. I could not find any vacuum leak. Tomorrow I will spend the day cleaning inside, out and underhood as I do not like working on dirty cars. -
Long ago (thinking 1973)I bought a 1937 Chrysler Airstream that was all painted up for a local high school homecoming. Usable interior, ran good but every inch including windows was all painted. I got it for $99, cleaned the windows with a razor, and drove it home. One week later I had all the paint off and traded it off for a 454 from a wrecked Monte Carlo.
