  1. I am 77 and I bought my first Buick ,a 1931 4 door , in 1948. I drove it for a year and bought a 37 Century . I drove that until i passed mty Dad at 100MPH ,and he chose my next car. I drove a 39 Pontiac 6 until I graduated. I had mostly Fords until I went in tne service. I have had too many Buicks to count since then, but loved them all. I drive a 92 Roadmaster wagon for every day, and my wife has a Rendezvous. I still have all my bases covered for older buicks as I have : 69 Sport wagon with a 200-4R trans and factory AC for trips 72 GS 455 convertible for drag racing 37 special coupe for my "street rod" (455 Buicke powered with all the toys) 40 Super convertible for my antique (driven over 100k by me ) I have lived in the Flint MI area (hometown of Buick ) all my life, but worked for Chevrolet
  2. It is a 55 ! Why don't you drive it there and snjoy the trip ?????
  3. I agree with Keith. BUY IT !!!!! I had a 91 Park Avenue and drove it 250K + and it was still getting 26=28 MPG You can't buy cheaper transportation anywhere.
  4. A fitting tribute to a fine man and a tremendous supporter of the Buick name
  5. I toasted in the Nwe Year with a LARGE glass of Scotch, and hope everyone has a prosperous New year .
  6. My Sport Wagon is actually a 69 and has the 350 4BBL engine .a 3.42 axle and I installed a 200-4R trans , I have driven it 45 k plus in the last 6 years and with the AC on it pulls 20 MPG on the interstate In the mountains it needs to run in conventional third, but on normal terrain ,it pulls the OD very well
  7. They had a 350 2 BBL ,a 350 4BBl and a 400 available. I have a 350 4BBL and LOVE the car
  8. I'm glad you found one !! Merry Christmas
  9. I guess I should have said " A gppd used one instead of a new one". If a distributor has been cared for, they will last forever. They really do not need too much maintenance. A shot of grease in the zirc once a year ,and the cam given some lube ,and you are good to go. My straight eight has been through three sets of points ,in almos forty years, and still runs GREAT
  10. My question to you is "why do you need a new one ?? I have put 100K plus on a straight eight and NEVER had a distributor problem.
  11. Watch this video YouTube - A Different Christmas Poem
  12. Rick Ihope all these items are washed down with copious quantities of an amber fluid !!!
  13. Another thing to think about is the bell housing. The bolt pattern is the same, but you will need to indicate the hole where the trans fits. That hole is finish bored after the bell housing is mounted on the block. The dowel holes were not always the same as the machines of 70 years ago were not as good as what we have today. If you do not have the manual bell housing that came with the engine, remove the dowels ,bolt the earlier housing to the engine and tap it around until you get a 0 reading. Then use a tapered dowel pin reamer or open the dowel holes up and fabricate oversize dowels. If this is not done you will have a Buick that will have a tendency to jump out of gear when you let off the gas.
  14. I have a 263 in my 40 as the gent from Australia said, and the only problem i can forsee is the automatic has a different flange on the back of the crank. I don't remember what the difference is ,but I know there is one.
  15. I had mine sleeved in brass 20 years ago ,and it was the best thing I did !! They haven't given me a minutes trouble since They can also sleeve the master cylinder
  16. I only drive my 40 in the warm monthes so to stop mine from leaking, I just fill it with graphite chassis lube. It mixes with the steering gear lube and after a couple of applications becomes thick enough to stop the leak. The cars steers just fine and has been leak free for 100,000 miles and 38 years.
  17. There is nothing said about the original Chevrolet plant or the old AC plant in Flint Michigan. The have both been demolished, and GM has almost destroyed Flint
  18. I am one of the infamous " Liars Club " members, and it is a very eclectic group. We have ex-cops , business owners, guys that pick up bodies for the morgue, bus drivers, retirees , and others that I have no idea what they do. I am sure you would fit in somewhere !!
  19. Mr Earl I got it 10-12 years ago with a bunch of parts I purchased. I was told it was an experimental piece that they decided not to use.
  20. The 57 has some expensive front end pieces, but the simplest thing to do if you are going to really use it is to sub-prame it and that way you can get disc brekes and a car that will handle like a late model. I also had a 57 2 dr on a 73 Electra chassis that was GREAT !!!
  21. I hauled a 17 foot Airstream all over the country with a 57 Caballero wagon in the 80s, and NEVER had a problem
  22. You will probably get 20-30 different opinions !!! I run 15-40 Rotella in my 40, or 10-40 Valvoline and have driven it over 100 K
  23. I'm glad you are still on track !!! I can't wait to see it !
  24. Contact TA performance .Yhey have the proper seal
  25. Keith I am glad to see that the 67 is still alive and well. I remeber when I first saw the spotlight , and thought is was SO COOL! I have become burned out also, but still think the BCA is the best club going !!!!
