  1. Stevo You are already in too deep. I know where to find you !! Derek The brain has atrophied to the point where I am not even able to remember what I had for breakfast.
  2. I turned 14 on August 10 ,1947, and the law was changing to 16 for a license on September 1, ,so I took my Mothers 1941 special 4 door for my drivers test. I learned to drive on my Dads 1929 Buick 4 door when I was 12-13. i got my license on August 28, and have driven mostly Buicks ever since.
  3. I look 2 -3 times a day, and help where I feel I can.
  4. YnZ is the one for me . They will even custom build a harness with extra wires in the loom if you ask them. My 32 Buick had extras for the turn signals and an electric fuel pump.
  5. John You are going to have to hide ,because Cliff will hunt you down !!1
  6. Roberta is the" voice of sanity " in this insane world. She is also our newly elected chapter director. I thought the present director raised the bar, and did great things. I expect next year will be even better.
  7. El Diablo You are comparing "apples to oranges" ! There are numerous Buick clubs that are primarily race oriented, but the BCA I about enjoying old Buicks ! The GSCA (Gran Sport Club of America ) The BPG ( Buick Performance Group ) come immediately to mind. I find it VERY hard to believe that the BMW organization has 75,000 americans in thei club.:confused::confused:
  8. I have been a member of the BCA since 1969 (BCA 1308) and was a member of the GSCA from 1990 to 2002. I still go to the Michigan -Ohio race at Norwalk that is run by Roberta and Bill, and although I stopped racing a couple of years ago, ,I still go to see the people. I agree that there are people on both sides of the fence that can't seem to see what the other person sees in the different Buicks. I still catch some flack from BCA members because my 72 GS has headers and flowmasters and my 37 coupe has a 455. The muscle car group is much more acceptable of my 40 convert and my 69 Sport Wagon than the BCA people.are of mt muscle cars. I believe the BCA has lost its way and needs to go back to their original premise. Since the 400 point judging system has come into play, the BCA has gone from a group that enjoys old cars ,to a bunch of trophy hunters. The BDE was formed for that reason , and although the BCA is losing members and has financial problems, the BDE is growing and is financially well off. This should tell you something.
  9. The greases of today are far superior to what was available in 39. Any good 80-140 grease will do the job well
  10. It sounds to me that you still have flooding problems. Unhook the back carb and plug the fuel line. If it runs better you have found the problem You may be able to see which carb it is by removing the air cleaner andlooking into the throat while the engine is running. If it is back firing be careful as you can destroy a muffler VERY easily
  11. I have movies of the dragster running at Central Michigan Dragway back in the late 60s. It left a lasting impression on me.
  12. It may be something as simple as a stuck float . Tap the carb LIGHTLY and see if that doesn't help. If that doesn't do the job ,just disassemble it and make sure the float moves and the needle and seat are clear.
  13. The wheel will fit, but the hub cap won't. The 40 had a smaller hub cap.
  14. I have a 40 Super ,and am keeping the extra parts for this. There is a waterpump rebuilder in our area that can rebuild your old pump. I sold all the shocks, I would like to sell parts in wholesale lots and just empty the barn
  15. I would bypass the resistor and run 6 volts to the coil. I can.t remember a resistor in any GM 6 volt system
  16. Stevo You are correct !! The BDE was started for just that reason. It is a shame that many of the judges are almost vindictive whan it comes to judging. They feel they MUST find something wrong or they are not doing their job. Alan Oldfield (chief Judge) continued to tell the judges " don't kill the car" but it still happens. It appears the government now is stepping up to the plate and trying to kill the hobby.
  17. The 455 was standard in the Electra, and so the engine was sitting on the original mounts. A4 door sedan is not really that rare , so have at it !!
  18. I had a 57 that a friend mounted on a 72 Electra chassis, and it made a GREAT swap. It was almost a bolt on conversion.
  19. Bernice and I celebrated our 50th in April
  20. Tina is a lucky lady. She will enjoy her new ride and just maybe let you ride in it too Sid. It will get good enough MPG that you can come to Colorado
  21. I did the "hot Rod " power tour in 2001 from Pontiac Mich to San bernadino in my 37 Buick coupe. The group ran mostly the interstate, but my friend and I ran all of rte 66 we could find. We also did much of it in our 69 Sport Wagon on a trip with 2 of our Grandsons. The highlight of that trip was almost being caught in a tornado in Clinton oklahoma while we were going through the Rte 66 museum there.
  22. I have a 263 in my 40 Super and by using the 40 front mount , it went right in place. I did have to tap a hole in the boss on the left side to accept the clutch bracket.
