  1. I put no value on these things.. They were a personal and commecial item..that only ment something in the moment.. I never seen or heard any on a vintage car....ever! Thats in 55 years of shows and tours since age 6. Do not invest to much time or much money in them!
  2. I had a nice clean ,never mounted set that played, "this is the way we wash our clothes". Came from an estate of a guy who made his millions in the laundry business. He was a great home tinkerer and car guy.We cleaned out the garages and his home work shop(take away for nothing)Full of 20's through the 40s car stuff and belt driven machine shop tools from the victorian era. I gave the horns to a friend who pestered me for them. 30 years later they hang in his basement.I heard them twice...
  3. Steeldraulic brakes are very good brakes and the info is easy to get on adjustment..as you see. There are a few special /plier wrench tools for early to late versions but you can fudge it. If you reline and adjust them from rods to cables to drums,it will be 20 or 30 thousand miles before you think they need attention again.
  4. I misplaced a snotty comment here ,so deleted it .My new years resolution, for as long as it lasts.?
  5. I'm am anomaly..Though since my teen years..50 years ago..I could care less about car shows or showing a car,I don't have the ego need. Don't get me wrong,I been to and particapite in hundreds but could care less except maybe a worthy cause otherwise ,I go for the fkea market and to have minor social intercourse with old car friends and serious enthousiasts.I don't give an F about spectators . . My vehicles are selfishly for me and me alone and drive them in a priority "earn your keep fashion" and need no excuse to "take one out" after being ground into the road week after week. I have a similar view if museums.Once you see a the great Stutz or Parkhard V16 and Duesy sitting there so what..A few museums you've seen it all.. If they arent being driven about to hear and smell , perform and touch a door handle,it's nothing but pures static junk! Any museum that doesn't have at least 3 cars out at a time of rotating stock running round giving rides and 300 days a years should be should be ashamed.

Drive, drive and drive some more.If it gets chiped or worn out out ,fix it again..
  7. For wood parts that have been urine soaked..Scrape away all crud..Wash with vinegar and water solution .When dried well ,coat with a thinned down (wash sealer coat) of orange shellac.. Having been a piano rebuilder and restorer for 33 years. This is what worked . Metal work can also be washed with vinegar and water solution. ..
  8. Thoroughly under rated by those who never drove one..The W.O.Whippet of 1928/29 4 cylinder in good condition is equal to if not better then, and FUN as hell,as the Model A Ford in many ways.. This is not a lot of money for a decent car to improve upon and maintain and ejoy.
  9. I believe there was a ratio of 1 in 3 satisfied customers, which didn't help this business.. I had bought several T parts in several years and none were the ones from the photos sent me.
  10. 4 and half hours IS way to far to travel to look at an ambiguos "driver" condition Model A Ford! An ex high standard resto or a show car that has seen some use o.k. .,but not for what will end up being a less then average /poor ,older restoration which equates to the "driver" discription these days.. If it's a dog that you don't want ,you have 11 hour turn around . Life is a oneway ticket and to short to waste too much time looking at a common Ford. The country is littered with them for sale ..just check out facebook. Travel for deal on a Stutz !
  11. Remember the guys using 20's and 30's empty head lamp buckets, some still on the fender to fender cross bar, to make and scoop out trenches to devert the water. Some used bumpers for scraping and shoveling waterways for mud run offs. I recall 40 years ago someone had an unrestored but working wrecker made out of a Packard ,Pierce Arrow ,Cadillac maybe a Locomobile, pulling out stuck vehicles.
  12. I recall 2 stop lights. I think the left tail light was inbetween signal blinks, sharing a single filament on this one. My award winning photography ,does it again.
  13. This black ,slightly low riding ,90% de-chromed coupe was in front me for a mile or so and I barely got a side view, but it also had red rims and white wall rubber. My guess was a 41 Merc ?.I got close enough to here the throaty growl of a flathead V8 at a stop light. I believe the trunk handle was filled in. This pretty boring bubble of a tub with dual exhaust with chrome pipe ends didn't get over 25 MPH in a 35 zone..when traffic was mostly 40 mph And for what I guess was to be a bit of a late 50's/60's lead sled job, from behind the skiny tires(probably 600 x 16 )looked small and silly.
  14. I rather see this rough piece(that no one in the modern day AACA would see worthy to invest one single penny in)go the way of a poorly done rod. It may save one decent older restored Model A ,bought cheap ,and stripped down bits and so called , old skool rodded.. an insult to the time and energy of previous restorer. This happens every day... You have to live with it.
  15. The never ending job of "save or TRASH" over 50 years of mostly auto paper /ephermera ,here is an advert for "Oakite Cleaning Solutions " during the second world war. Never heard of it or seen a old container.. Notice on the fold-out ,double sheet the nose of a Cord is shown for a radiator clean.
  16. Thanks Ron Hausmann and ViV W for the thoughtful replies. First off, I was looking one or four cylinders , I the event someone has just one to sell ,but I'm looking for 4.. The reason for the cylinder need is I'm starting from scratch ,(more or less )after having my original wheel cylinders sleeved and the job done incorrectly and have been nothing but a leaking mess one cylinder at a time.I've returned 2 for repair and when a 3rd one went during bleeding..I said f $%==%%#!!$=€_k these A-h )o( les. So I moved on from that rebuilder One additional huge error was the rebuilder removed the internal bore piston/cup stops, claiming it's an upgrade to go to the internal spring design and that the brakes will work the same..Not so. If they work It's just be pure luck. The rebuilder(Apple Hydraulics) did not return these inner bore stop parts..they were tossed in trash ,so in order to return my original( or next set )of wheel cylinders to their original proper design when they get sent to a qualified rebuilder ,I need the inner stops.. I did recently aquired a box lot of 5 crusty wheel cylinders( all casting number 70928 -( varing last one digit). Supposedly complete.. Only 3 frozen original unrestored cylinders yielded the internal stops..One cylinder was disassembled with the stop gone and one cylinder had a regular spring and different pistons for some other application but used the same 70928 casting. So at present, I need at a minimum one internal cylinder bore stop set. Without to much detail, these inner piston stops original intention is to keep the brake band ,return springs and reversing direction bell cranks from pushing the piston and seal cups too far into the cylinder and into the fluid feed hole area and keeps the piston travel basically even.
  17. Well, we know these folks no nothing important about the car and it's true condition..It would make a nice basic vintage car to finish off at the right price. 😜"May or may not be a 95 +/-point restoration" The motor compartment a lone blows show car quality (or anything even close )right out the window...into the next neighborhood! If the motor compartment gives any indication of the thought put into the rest of the car...hum?😱 Nothing is there that could be salvaged for a near serious point car.
  18. Excessive idling is one of the biggest wastes of fuel..and does build up a little more unwanted heat . Sitting in front of a house or at a store pick up ,waiting on poeple or at a railroad stop for a slow moving frieght I kill the motor. An old long forgotten driving courtesy I practice is, if there is car a head waiting to pull out into traffic the 5th car driving in street is to let them out..If your that 5th car,you let them go. One other old time thing is." You see yellow, you see RED! Only a real moron in a vintage car would run a yellow light or blow a red. Never pull so close to a car ,even stoped, that you can see it's tires on the road. And last for now..Don't pull over the white stop line ,when you stop. Or so close to a traffic light you can't see it ,in the normal seated driving postion. At 2am...with no traffic..anything goes , till you see a cop!
  19. What the hell! This must have been for a "Bad Backyard Art" contest and they won! Now they think their silver monstrosity has an extreme art value. Normal delusional sellers would be asking $5,000 for the body and fenders and $500 for the golf cart! They have some good weed down in Tutti Fruitus Ville.
  20. Rusty, No thats not her car . Your old girl friend drives that lime green and pink '42 DeSoto....with the bobble head of Elvis on the hood. How could you forget so fast?
