  1. That is a pretty cool looking piece in my opinion. Bob
  2. @1939_Buick I love your straight eight engine stand. Did you make that? Could you post photo of the rear? Bob
  3. I have a GM door spring remover and installer, did not have one when I replaced the door spring and managed to get r done, so then I purchased one and used it only once. It is like a mini spring compressor. Bob
  4. Barney, I like your homemade set up with your extensions. Bob
  5. The tool is designed to measure inside brake drum(not for specs to see if replacement needed) and then see how it measures up too brake shoes when installed on vehicle, so you can make accurate brake shoe adjustment, possibly may have to tweak adjustment a little, especially on front for brake pulling conditions. Bear brake drum measuring gauge, has a dial gauge for you to read for exact dimensions to see if inside brake drum is within specifications. Bob
  6. I will contact a friend who has a 1957 Oldsmobile, but his is automatic, and see if he has any thoughts, he is also in the Oldsmobile club. I remember seeing an article on the "Specialist" on 1957 Oldsmobiles ( I thing he was a tech advisor in Olds club) and lived in southeast Wisconsin ( Racine area?) Bob
  7. I learn something new from Wille all the time, such a knowledgeable member. What were the new pressure readings with the ground wire disconnected? Bob
  8. Today I learned something new "Front pump to converter garlock seal" I never heard it referred to that name. I thought you already replaced that seal? The part number needed is CT-8029 for seal, and possibly bushing # CT-2795, I know you mentioned you will not need bushing. https://www.classictransmissionsolutions.com/buick-dynaflow-transmission-front-pump-seal-1948-1963/ Bob
  9. @Walt G is correct in saying Pete is doing a great job salvaging parts from parts cars for all of us members needs. Thank you Pete Bob
  10. I like your positive thinking get er done Bob EDIT: maybe Jim Hughes is talking about the inside of the front pump that is one heavy torque converter, especially with fluid in it.
  11. I don’t mean to rain on your parade BUT from what you described on what you found with your seal, the video shows something a lot worse did you check wear on input shaft bushing? That might explain your leak Bob
  12. What are the A/C pressure readings? Amazon has several brands of 12 point crowfoot wrenches Bob
  13. @g-g-g0 as he stated front and rears are the same on all 1957 series listed in parts book. Bob
  14. Follow John's suggestions, and I would also add transmission oil dye to your transmission and then use a ultraviolet light with special glasses to see where the dye is coming out. Bob
  15. @old-tank If you want to send back the leak detector you ordered, you can use my halogen leak detector for FREE, just pay for the shipping and insurance to you and back to me. Bob
  16. @Mudbone I called Garage Squad and had to leave a message that we wanted them to finish your car next week, BUT they have NOT returned my call? Bob
  17. We used the punch set to cut holes in firewall on VW Rabbits for the A/C lines to mount on evaporator inside car when installing A/C kit Bob
  18. I love all these tools and tool box stories, makes me want to get out and buy some. Bob
  19. Square nut or plug adjustable remover/installer. Bob
  20. I had a tech working for me, he was a real tool buyer, Snap-On, Matco, Cornwell , I would guess tool box's and tools $75K He was in lawsuit with his sister when he died, sister sold everything for the first $5K, he must have rolled over in his grave, I think that's what she was hoping. Bob
  21. When converter off, also inspect closely, input shaft bearing/bushing for wear. When transmission pan back on and sitting on bench, @Mudbone in one of his video's made a square tube oil pan protection bracket so transmission would not rest on bottom of oil pan on bench, great idea by Mudbone. Bob
  22. Make sure you mark front cover and front pump (the part front cover attaches to) before you take it apart I am jealous of your space working in hanger I don’t know the correct color of your transmission Bob
  23. In the trunk I do see a thermostat LOL Bob
