The tool is designed to measure inside brake drum(not for specs to see if replacement needed) and then see how it measures up too brake shoes when installed on vehicle, so you can make accurate brake shoe adjustment, possibly may have to tweak adjustment a little, especially on front for brake pulling conditions. Bear brake drum measuring gauge, has a dial gauge for you to read for exact dimensions to see if inside brake drum is within specifications. Bob

I will contact a friend who has a 1957 Oldsmobile, but his is automatic, and see if he has any thoughts, he is also in the Oldsmobile club. I remember seeing an article on the "Specialist" on 1957 Oldsmobiles ( I thing he was a tech advisor in Olds club) and lived in southeast Wisconsin ( Racine area?) Bob

I learn something new from Wille all the time, such a knowledgeable member. What were the new pressure readings with the ground wire disconnected? Bob -
Today I learned something new "Front pump to converter garlock seal" I never heard it referred to that name. I thought you already replaced that seal? The part number needed is CT-8029 for seal, and possibly bushing # CT-2795, I know you mentioned you will not need bushing. https://www.classictransmissionsolutions.com/buick-dynaflow-transmission-front-pump-seal-1948-1963/ Bob

Follow John's suggestions, and I would also add transmission oil dye to your transmission and then use a ultraviolet light with special glasses to see where the dye is coming out. Bob
