  1. There're not ugly. I look at them and the first thing that crosses my mind is "transformers". My work takes me into the nations capitol fairly often. I've seen several in my travels around that erea.
  2. These are cool tractors and I would love to own one. Same Hercules IXB engine as in my BF Avery tractor.
  3. I saw a set of Franklin headlights today at the meet but that's as close to a Franklin as I saw. Quite a few T's and a couple A's for sale, some quite reasonable. Day was sunny and in the mid-eighties so pretty warm day! Forecast is rain tomorrow so we packed up this evening and came home. Everybody likes photos so here are a few pics I took today.
  4. I got to the swap meet around 3:30 and spent a couple hours setting up. Lots of vendors already there and some nice cars (mostly T's) there for sale. I'll try to get some photos tomorrow. If you are a Model T aficionado, you should be here!
  5. Got frustrated over the gas tank issue and I also needed space. Interior of tank was crustier than any I've ever seen and I decided if someone else wanted to tackle it, I'd let it go so that's what happened. I promised myself the next one won't need anything but gas.
  6. FYI to everyone coming to this meet. Check out the '26 model T coupe in the cars for sale section. It's a great buy and only a short distance from the meet in Quicksburg, Va.
  7. I'm heading over this afternoon to set up. I have two spaces and my trailer is loaded down with lots of model A and T goodies so please come by and say hello! Thankfully this is only an hour from my house so if I sell out Friday I can come home and restock! 😃 I just sold my model A Roadster so I may be in the market for something well sorted and ready to go. Model A or T touring, phaeton or pickup perhaps?
  8. That's pretty cool, certainly something not often seen. I have a new found admiration for the model T after visiting Greenfield Village and the Gilmore last fall. Safe travels!
  9. I'm taking a lot of 14 Model A Ford Zenith Carburetors to Luray next week. Mostly Zenith-1 and Zenith-2 with a couple unmarked. They are mostly complete but a few are missing some misc. parts such as choke plates and so forth. Also included is a couple boxes of misc. new and used parts plus a box of upper and lower castings, at least 7-8 of each. Selling as a lot. $700. Pick up Luray. email me at 97buster@gmail.com.
  10. Try "Scoutco" in Harrisonburg, Va. They specialize in Scouts but many parts interchange. Nice looking truck by the way! I wouldn't restore such a solid looking truck. Clean it up and drive it! For some reason that gas cap in the front fender always looked out of place to me.........🤔
  11. Pig in a bag just doesn't sound right. 😄 My grandmother always said "poke" when referring to a bag.
  12. There will be some cars there for sale and not just model T's or A's. I know of a complete 1916 Studebaker touring that will be there for sale. It will need complete restoration but that will be the type of stuff that shows up for anybody interested.
  13. Neat looking car! The grille shell looks similar to a Minneapolis-Moline tractor. I like it!
  14. If I owned Paul's '35 I'd keep it just the way it is. The way it looks in it's work clothes is perfect, like a time machine! If it was perfectly restored with shiny paint and chrome I wouldn't like it half as much. That's just me.
  15. Now, if only I had the skirts they go on! 😃
  16. Thank you @DCarter! I would've never figured that one out!
  17. Interesting thread. I'd hope that we can all see others points of view and take opinions for what they are, opinions. Regarding the cars in the auction I think there is much we can agree on. Most are poorly "restored" with incorrect color and/or parts with questionable mechanicals in an area that will be expensive to attend and/or get transportation to/from. Most will likely take much, much work (read time/cost) to make presentable, much less road-worthy. On top of all that the starting bids are too high with all this considered. I'm not speaking for Ed but my translation of his word "junk" means "not worth the time or effort given the above circumstances". The cars aren't necessarily junk but most will likely take way more time, effort and expense to be worthwhile.
  18. Presumably Ford but unlike any I'm familiar with. Cast and about 3 1/2" diameter. Larger diameter than the '36 Ford horn covers. They were found in the same box together.
