  1. And don't leave your receipts where your wife can find them.
  2. I'll bite. Are they tabs that you'll fold over for soldering?
  3. That stinks. But at least you'll know what you have when it's all said and done.
  4. I have to say. So far, I haven't seen anything that looks better than the OEM road Wheels. Just my opinion, but Buick did it right the first time.
  5. I can't wait to get my parts here so I can rebuild this thing.
  6. Looking for an ST300 Switch Pitch torque converter. I need a core in order to buy a rebuild. Alternatively, I would buy a verified rebuild form a reputable source. Regards, Dan
  7. Ugh, so I got a quote of $900 for a rebuild plus "whatever the torque convertor guy may charge". So, I thought I would tackle the rebuild part myself. I ordered a rebuild kit from this place in Oregon. 8 days later, no change in the status of my order. They don't answer their phones or emails. Finally I sent a note threatening to have my bank draw back the money. The guy responds telling me some parts are on national back order and he didn't realize it. The saga continues.
  8. Thanks Rivnut. I'm registered on every Buick forum I can find :). I figured since it was from a GS Riv, I'd ask about the specifics of the transmission here. No torque tube in 1962 (I think 1960 was actually the last year for torque tubes). I got the guy to throw in the correct starter when I bought the trans. I've tried to do as much homework as I can.
  9. I know this is the Riviera forum, so I appreciate the willingness to diverge a little. Yes it is a 1962 engine in a 1962 car. My understanding is that if I use a bushing on the crank, the later (64-66) flexplate and transmission will mount up. That is not the case? Centerville Auto Repair has one they claim will facilitate this. http://centervilleautorepair.com/transadaptors Regards, Dan
  10. That's the stuff I end up doing when I start out to do an oil change.
  11. Yes, that's what I understood from his post. Now to get it rebuilt and installed.
  12. I just downloaded it and flipped through the pages. Interesting read. Automatic transmission have always intimidated me a little bit. I like how they break the fluid path circuits down and talk a little bit about what they do.
  13. Thanks for the response.
  14. Hello, I just acquired a 1965 BS code transmission. Supposedly this was used on the GS 425 with dual quads. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me if this differs in any meaningful way from any other 1965 transmission? What is unique that it is specifically coded to that car? Regards, Dan
  15. It's beautiful. Congrats on your purchase. Maybe you could post more pictures of her.
  16. Are you going to paint it pink again?
  17. That is correct. In my ignorance, I asked the seller if there were register rings. He said "no" and I took it to mean I was buying the 64 wheels. So, maybe a follow on question. If I get a set of wheels and remove the register rings, they should work on my 62, right?
  18. Thanks for the responses guys. I absolutely did a Google search on wheel spacers. Guess how many responses I got? I can tell you that none of them were helpful. I did find that there are a small handful of companies that make wheel spacers. There is a multitude of companies that re-sell them. I went to the top couple of spacer manufactures and was not able to find any relevant information. They also didn't respond to emails or answer their phones. Probably some of this is due to the pandemic and people are working from home or furloughed. As I said before these are the 71+ Rallye wheels intended for a 62 Lesabre. This means they are 15X6 with a 5x5 bolt pattern (895 series). The issue is that these have a hub diameter of 3", whereas the 62 Buick has a hub diameter of 3-1/2" . They have backspacing of 1/2" more than previous versions, which is why I am thinking I could just get a 1/2" spacer and be done with it. But it needs to have 3-1/2" diameter opening or it won't go over the hub. These are not hub-centric wheels, they are "lug-centric" wheels".
  19. You could always call and ask. My experience with trying to sell a vehicle recently is that lot's of people want information, few are actually serious buyers. Sometimes giving a host of information just leads the looky-loos to feel emboldened to pester you more.
  20. So I bought a set of Rallye wheel (1971+). The center hub diameter needs to be 3 1/2". These won't fit without some kind of spacer behind the rims. I can't seem to find the right spacers. The rims are in nice shape and I'd like to use them but it seems like this is getting ridiculous. Anyone have any resources for wheel spacer that will work? Regards, Dan
  21. Thanks Joe, I did watch your video. It was great. In fact, I think I've watched every video on your website. Good stuff. I am by no means an expert. I was able to find the service instructions for the motor. I got it all apart. Everything checked out electrically and the brushes looked good. In spite of that the stupid thing still doesn't work. I did some troubleshooting on the windings and everything is right. But obviously it isn't. For the time being, I put back on the shelf to be messed with at a later date. I have a functioning 1 speed wiper in the car now. Kind of disappointing, but I'll get to it eventually.
  22. Can anyone recommend a decent machine shop in the Chicago/Milwaukee area?
  23. So really it just comes down to not having to deal with 60 year old frail or unavailable parts?
