1927 BUICK sedan $19K Nice
Leif in Calif replied to Leif in Calif's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
Yes! ...I should have checked more carefully. They started at $19K last January and then went to $14K in March. All we can hope is that the decent condition and $19K asking will keep it from being sold to some hot rodder at Good Guys. -
It's minor hassle to get a car like this in the California DMV system. You have to get paperwork from the DMV, then have the "VIN" verified by the CHP (which requires trailering it to the CHP station after you've made an appointment) and then returning to the DMV. Alternatively, you can pay a certified inspector to come out and verify it for about $150, then go back to the DMV.

The picture made me think it had been hot rodded, but I spoke to the seller, who told me his brother owned it for 7 or 8 years, and was planning to hot rod it but only got as far as the wheels before he died of COVID. He said the original engine is there and he has the transmission but it's out of the car. He thought is was "reasonably complete", with very good sheet metal. https://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/d/orangevale-restorable-1930-hudson/7522647086.html 1930 Hudson 8 cylinder coupe with rumble seat. I don't understand about the year, but this is the nicest Trabant I've seen. Doesn't even smoke bad! https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/7524339206.html 1962/82 Trabant 601 Universal station wagon. 600 cc 2-cylinder, 2-stroke engine with 4-speed column shift, and 4th gear free-wheel. Well-preserved original bright green paint and beige cloth interior. 61,000 km actual mileage with recent mechanical refurbishment including battery, exhaust, clutch, tune-up, coils, and brake system. This is the Kombi model with factory fog lights, trip odometer, and rear wiper/washer. Looks great, runs and drives excellent, and all accessories including heat are in good working order. This car was imported from Dresden, Germany in 2017 and may be the only Trabbi currently titled and registered in California! Original Spare, owner’s manual, keys, and car-cover included. Gets over 50 MPG, is very reliable, and is ready to show or drive. (530) 304-0012The car can be seen in action here: https://vimeo.com/723430593, and here:

Looks like the rear wheels are smaller...maybe it's just the pictures but I'm with you...something doesn't look right. -
1930 Oakland - $13,500 - Ohio
Leif in Calif replied to Axial_Flow's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
A very interesting and rare car! The Oakland V8 has horizontal valves. You would think it would not be very powerful, but an Oakland finished 11th at Indianapolis in 1930! -
If the price was adjusted could be a nice "driver". Seems to be missing a lot of little things. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/7523821882.html 1938 Buick Century Coupe. Car is in great shape, but hasn’t run since it went to storage in the early 90s. Car has minimal rust—no rot anywhere. 320 straight 8. Again, the car drove to storage and then sat for 30 plus years. Engine and drivetrain is intact—nothing missing as far as I can tell. The body is in great shape but overall needs some TLC. Asking $9500 obo. (925) 698-6182

1933 Frontenac sedan, Ontario Canada $9,500
Leif in Calif replied to StillOutThere's topic in "Not Mine" Automobiles For Sale
Very Interesting! I'm very aware of Frontenac as the company formed by Louis Chevrolet in 1914 with backing by Albert Champion after he left Durant's GM, but I hadn't heard of this car. Is there a relationship? Are they the same company? -
Almost all the words in the title have no relationship to this car. It appears to be steel, so someone when to a lot of trouble here. There is very little useful information in the ad (does it run, for instance) but it does have this: "The crank pulley at the front of the engine had a belt running up to a generator that was on top of the cylinder head. The back of the generator had a shaft sticking out that the radiator cooling fan was mounted on. " So now I know that the 2 stroke SAAB isn't the only car with an "Overhead fan shaft"!....Good to know
