  1. I personally attempted to contact multiple times and never got a response. Never assume it is the real deal untill you check under the skirt... Plus, not sure if I would call it a steal at that price. IF it is a true triple black with center console GS with matching numbers AND in good original condition, then we can begin the conversation. Until then, its bullshit.
  2. Is this a 66 GS/BS transmission? Is it still available? Thank you.
  3. Thanks Pat, I appreciate it.
  4. I am looking for original Key Blanks for a 1965 Buick Riviera. Does anyone have a set or two? Thank you.
  5. I was just watching velocity. Guy had a carb that got all slugged up because of ethanol in the fuel. Hehehe.
  6. Well, ethanol fuel can be made fairly easily by us commoners. It is not so hard to convert even an early Riviera over to 100% ethanol car I am told and then you can distill your own fuel. Ethanol should actually clean an engine and avoid having filthy pollution coming out the exhaust. We have a bunch of people doing similar actions locally. Cars should have been steam, electric, ethanol, solar, from the beginning but obviously there is mass manipulation. Im too lazy at this point, so give me that leaded premium! My comments are a bit off topic however.
  7. Bump. None have a nice set of 65 mags for sale?
  8. Don't give that away sir. You should keep as a spare for sure. Or if not, sell it at least, but think about it. That is the original air cleaner to your fine antique and the California version is much harder to find. I sold a non-california version for I think it was about $250 one time. Yours is also in very good condition with the original lettering clear and more rare. KEEPER! COME TO YOUR SENSES.
  9. I am looking for a set of original 1965 Buick Riviera chrome wheels. Thank you for any leads.
  10. My grandfather purchased his 64 New from the dealer and drove it till he died at 91. He was a MAJOR first generation Riviera parts dealer during that time...in Southern California, but these parts were gotten from the place where cars go to die. You are not really answering my question specifically, but I think I understand the points. Also, I did not say I hated the car. Intricacies are important. Certainly I don't see an issue with selling parts. I need parts! This particular build is a spectacle and will get some praise and much deserved critics. Final ruling: They did not meet their own goals. Poor Build. Thats official. They get some minor bonus points for it being the first time to do something that PERHAPS, should not have been done. I bet the owner loves the car though, so with that regard, it is a success! Thanks Mitch.
  11. My critique? I don't like the color combo!
  12. So, just as a hypothetical, if someone really got a kick out of buying up 65 Rivieras and chainsawing them or crushing them, would you still feel that way and support it Lrlf? I PERSONALLY consider the car, maybe not destroyed, but certainly diminished. Obviously people are free to enjoy as they like, yet I don't lend my support to many ways people enjoy their classic vehicles, nor would I pretend to do so. What IS very important to consider is that creative expressions such as forms of art or car builds for our specific example are rightfully open to BOTH praise AND criticism. I can critique while still honoring the personal choice and ability for others to enjoy the creation. IDEALLY if someone is going to do a build like this one, they might want to start with more of a low quality, non-GS car UNLESS perhaps they plan to do something extremely epic and profound like making a Silver Arrow like car or something of that nature. It is up for debate what is epic, profound, and appropriate. I would assume that he just worked with what he happened to have, yet A lot of money was spent on the build for sure $$$$$$$. I find the fresh interpretation not to my liking AND they did not meet their own goal of making it as fast as they wanted. Someone mentioned that maybe if they kept the nailhead and put the dual quad on, they TOO would have been more happy with the build as they would have met their own goals better while keeping it more true to form. I mean, it kinda cool and interesting, but looks like they would be breathing in a bunch of exhaust? hehehehe.
  13. I agree with JZ. Certainly even while making a gasser they should have kept the nailhead and gone a different way however. The owner made the essential mistakes that lacked appreciation for the starting treasure.
  14. 1448 (3.62%) according to RoA intel.
  15. My understanding is that the factory numbers on 67 have been lost to the wind. The statistics on options are gone forever! 8)
  16. Also, after reading the multiple articles in the Riview on the development of the 71 Riviera, it is clear that the original design was going to be something very similar to the scorpion. Some wanted a pure form, but in the end the design was certainly compromised due to cost saving measures (cowards!). In the 71 GS however, the sleek design for looks is only the beginning. It had an on board computer for adjusting to different terrains in 1971, thats early technology. The standard quick steering ratio, supped up carb and cams (455 engine from hell), upgraded handling, wrap around batman dash, hero drum breaks, and many other perfected applications. A 1971 GS Riviera is basically a luxury sports tank. I do believe that one of the biggest mistakes was put forward in 71 however. A plastic grill.......really? I can only imagine they did the math and figured no matter how many they had to replace, it would still save money. My guess is that they got many complaints about this and switched back the next year.
  17. I was speaking to one of the original designers at the Colorado meet, what was his name? Charles? Anyway, I always thought that these cars, especially the 1st generation looked "Medieval." After speaking with the designer, I found that they actually were...Literally! Bill Mitchell told him to go to the museum and get inspiration from the medieval armor! Notice how the clamshells for example open like a knights helmet. There is no doubt, Rivieras are the most bad ass vehicles ever made, and the public is still playing catchup! Also, when it comes to beauty, even in natural settings, function does play a role. For example a ravens wing is extremely beautiful in form and the silky rainbow obsidian black feather are also marvelous because they play such an amazing role functionally. This is why vents that actually work are far more desirable: because beauty is truly a direct parallel with the form of health. Nothing wrong with dying hair, but a Riviera gentleman might leave the fake implants to a Camaro or Mustang guy. We want show AND go!
  18. Yeah, indeed. What is with the fake out?! The profit driven monsters are always around to screw something up! But why not just make the real deal and charge more? REAL VENTS PLEASE!!!
  19. Yeah, not sure why they got rid of that; big mistake. The 65 is just so clean without any headlights showing. And after you have a classic with the hideaway windshield wipers for example, they end up looking clumsy. Clamshells are legend, but you can't beat the 66-67 body style IMO. Personally, I would like to see a Riviera with 65 clamshells, 66-67 space ace pointed front end, 63-34 vents, 71 boat tail rear window and back end that morphs into the 68 rear lights, 1970 side chrome, 455 engine, and skirts, 67 Aluminum star wars air cleaner with the aluminum GS covers, and of course a 66-68 center console shifter. O and of course I would add a phantom front window, silver arrow tri-steering wheel, and some Pegasus styling! Man, I think we just need to actually MAKE the concept Pontiac Scorpion and Call it the Ultimate Riviera!
  20. Anything that says 65 Rivieras are going down in the next 5 years is garbage...for starters. All Rivieras will be going up with the 65s leading the VANGUARD!
  21. Still looking for a 66 BS/GS Transmission. A previous owner on my 66 Riviera GS removed the correct BS transmission and so I need to get it back to factory specs. Thank you.
