  1. The 3800 V6, of course... ...but it I was turning left, so I got a green light before he did.
  2. True story: As I was leaving work Tuesday, that blue 1970 GT pulled up at the stop light next to me...
  3. Hi Frank! I'm sure most of us are not quite as interesting as we think we are, but that doesn't mean we can't be friends!
  4. I spotted a few Oldsmobiles in their Facebook posts over the weekend, but I didn't see any Buicks. I got in a little Route 66 cruising through northern Illinois, too... In solidarity, I even picked up some Poncho wall art. My uncle gave me a stack of manifolds and carbs along with my grandma's Rocket, and one of them is from a '74 Pontiac 400. It's only a 2bbl intake, so I'll probably just blast it, paint it, and hang it on the wall.
  5. For anyone interested, Best Western just provided a link for online reservations at our group rate...
  6. I've got 15 paid registrations right now, and many more folks I've been talking to that I haven't seen paperwork from yet. At least one other from the KC area.
  7. I just got the registration forms in... the above mentioned Opels ('70 GT & '69 Kadett Caravan) that I was drooling over will be at our October Buick Show. Chuffed!!
  8. But those Ponchos! Nah, your backstory is better. You got my vote.
  9. It's ok. I'm well versed in Top Gear (don't ask which version, there's only one) so I follow you either way. British & Aussie auto terminology is pretty similar. And now it's time to put a star in our reasonably priced car...
  10. I didn't anticipate a large group needing hotel rooms, but I have fielded a couple questions regarding this recently, so I'll put this suggestion out there (obviously, you are free to book anywhere)... The Best Western on east Kellogg (US54) is just a few miles from the show. We are working a special rate with them, but you must book 2 weeks before the show. $79/night (+$12.84 tax) http://www.bestwesternwichita.com/ Best Western Plus Eastgate Inn & Suites 8300 E. Kellogg Dr. Wichita, KS 67207 316.682-3000 1.800.528.1234 Also, this map shows some of the other local hotels and their standard rates (works best with Chrome): https://goo.gl/maps/fPDR7mDVhg52
  11. I cut 'Porthole Envy?' years ago, but never actually put it on anything...
  12. Yeah, I've had a hard time keeping the rain forrest out back knocked down with all of this rain! Glad to have you along! We processed your application today and can't wait to see you, Barbara, and the 1920 K-6-46 in October. Thanks!
  13. Just a quick hop over to the usual Friday night stop. Parked across from Booreatta's Reereatta... IMG_3929.MOV
  14. Yup. Jumper those 2 wires and you should have brake lights. One side should have 6v all the time. On a side note, what's with the loose bolt on the left side of the photo?
  15. Don't know if this guy is still around or not, but we bought a single piece and the glass color matches pretty well...
  16. FYI, we've had trouble getting good hydraulic switches for the MC, so we gave up and put a modern mechanical switch on the pedal, clamped to the column.
  17. Pretty sure the guy to the right of the Buick is doing some watering too. Not sure why else they would be looking down like that. Not like they had Pokemon GO back then...
  18. Bad ground is the most common electrical issue. Especially with a 6v system, just a tiny bit of corrosion somewhere will prevent the flow of current. 6v just doesn't have the force to jump across much (12v is not much better). I'd start at the front end (less wire required) and put a test light from the hot terminal of the bulb in question and the negative post of the battery. If you've got power at the terminal, you then need to ohm out the ground path. Pull the ground terminals and screws and shine them up with a wire brush. If you don't have power, start checking for power at the fuses and switches. At the back of the car, repeat the process. You might want to make some long test leads so you can get a known good ground to the area you are working in. The recurring issue on our '56 has been corrosion at the fuse box terminals. Disconnect the battery, pull the fuse, wire brush the fuse block, reinstall the fuse.
  19. I did kinda wonder what was going on at the time that Broussards REALLY wanted you to know that they carried Ex-Lax... I suppose a '42 Chevy would be ok with plain black shoes, but a '42 Buick should be wearing white spats.
  20. Sure needs some wide whites to break up all of that blackness, though...
  21. "Hey, won't you play another somebody broke my mustache bar song..."
  22. That makes me sick. I've seen an awful lot of cars being stolen from hotel parking lots lately. When booking a room in Tucson, my wife was asked if we wanted a room with a view of the courtyard. I said, "No, I want a view of my truck & trailer in the parking lot."
  23. She's mine. It'll be a while before I do anything with her, but I'll be on the lookout for parts.
  24. Well, Bertha is now on her way to her new home Kansas... This is a highly optioned car that was given to the sister of a D.C. Buick dealer (Ralph Brown, I think). It has the factory CB radio, sunroof, and 4-wheel disc brakes...
