  1. Here's another green, low mileage base model time capsule: https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/forum/your-studebaker-forum/stove-huggers-the-non-studebaker-forum/94401-alert-plain-jane-plymouth-values-going-up Craig
  2. If it was a Corvette, it would have a 'valet' key. Craig
  3. I wonder which would have cost more with similar base engine/transmission combination. A Biscayne with an AM radio? Or a Bel Air as seen with NO radio? Craig
  4. The front two thirds of the rear fender appears to be part of the door.
  5. That would be one of CCCA's 'Apply For Certification' cars. I believe this Spanish-bodied Buick would also have to apply for recognition as a CCCA Classic.
  6. A good ten years ago or more, someone I worked with bought a brand new GMC or Chev truck with OnStar. Talk about a Stool Pigeon!! On a quiet stretch of road many miles north of here, not long after he got it, he wanted to see it go over 100mph. When he got to just over 100, the radio suddenly cut out, and on came this female voice telling him to "slow down immediately, or his new vehicle warranty is VOID!" Craig
  7. And when real coffee shops reopen, you can take your laptop there and still participate here on the Forum. Craig
  8. Don't forget Dodge Brothers, at least for the closed cars. Craig
  9. I believe the 1982-84 Riviera (and 1984-5 Cadillac Eldorado convertible) rear windows are totally independent of the front windows. They will have their own wiring harness, relays, etc. The convertible bodies were sent to ASC for conversion, and they did the install of the rear window hardware, which was supplied by GM in a box. The front door windows were standard assembly line procedure, and if one notices, the controls on the driver's door for the front and rear windows are separate from each other. Craig
  10. I remember that show! https://blog.consumerguide.com/the-car-that-starred-in-my-mother-the-car/ Craig
  11. The wheels that it originally came with! You can't top them!! Craig
  12. You can probably blame me!! I kindly asked Mike to operate the one so I could photograph it in the 'up' or 'on' position as seen. I've since found an NOS set of universal semaphores of my own to play with now. Craig
  13. For Ford, it would be classed under their fleet ordering program, and I believe the code is '99-Administrative Deviation' or close. In other words, the more vehicles you order in a non-stock color, the better the price break will be. GM's should be similar, but I think the Corvette has a D30 code for Paint Override. Color Combination Override, provides the opportunity to individualize vehicle appearance by overriding recommended restrictions to exterior, interior and seat belt color combinations 1 - To be used exclusively to override exterior, interior and seat belt color combinations. SOLD orders only. Color Combination Override is available at an additional charge. https://www.corvetteblogger.com/docs/2020CorvetteStingrayOrderGuide.pdf Craig
  14. GM and Ford will paint a vehicle any color you chose, just like Porsche, Aston Martin, Rolls Royce, etc., but be prepared to pay the same as Porsche will charge. The car has to be pulled from the assembly line while a special paint formula is mixed just for that one unit. Expect to pay $4-$5K over for that special paint job. On a Porsche, $4-$5K isn't a whole lot extra when the car is well over $100K, but on a $40K Buick, that's 10% or more of the price. Craig
  15. I had a plastic scale model XK120 I painted that same color. If I remember right, Testors called it 'Sapphire Blue metallic'. Craig
  16. I like them as well. Unfortunately, in another one of GM's stupid moves, they chose not to market them in Canada. Craig
  17. The only car I can think of right now where I had difficulty getting in and out of was a Lotus Elise with an extremely wide and tall sill to step over to enter and exit. One has to be an acrobat to get in and out of it. I did tell the salesman, all your neighbors will be staring out the window to watch your wife get in it, as she would have to lift up her dress might high, so as not to tear it in half. Craig
  18. Oh, I've has some rides in 'high end' cars back in the 1960's, where you could count the number of bolts on the rear differential while standing up a few feet behind it. They all handled like a grocery cart on corners. Craig
  19. I know the feeling! This Friday/Saturday was supposed to be the 51st annual Red Deer Swap Meet; an event I've attended for over 40 years now where I've never come home empty-handed. Many others here in the western provinces will agree something will missing out of their lives this year. The positive, is that it forces me to spend my quality time in the garage on my projects. Craig
  20. One thing mentioned is the Oldsmobile engine in a Buick, which ultimately led to a lawsuit over an Oldsmobile engine in a Cadillac around the time this road test was written. In the end, this form of 'brand dilution' and extreme body panel sharing hurt GM severely in the 1980's where it was difficult to differentiate individual models between their five divisions . They could have learned from British Motor Corporation/British Leyland marketing 6 different lines of cars with the same body shell. Craig
  21. Looks like it was pulled up from the Salton Sea!! Craig
  22. The 7-1/2 minute long version comes to mind while reading this: Craig
  23. It was at the 2002 International Meet in South Bend I took those photos of it. Craig
