  1. Oh yes, I do have a photo of a Palicio Purple Lotus Esprit! Craig
  2. Anytime! Here are more photos of Mike Whitby's '39 Commander, if they assist in any way.
  3. The purple shade was chosen from Ford's 'Fleet Colors' binder. I have actually seen one of these binders, from 1971, and of the 300+ color chips within it, none had an actual color name, just that number as stated on the Marti report. Here is the owner's website which details this car, Rocky Mountain Life Insurance Company, and the rest of the fleet: http://www3.telus.net/nowland/site/index.htm Craig
  4. A Stinger from a few years ago, and another uncommon Yenko offering. Craig
  5. There were 98 1969 Mercury Cougars painted this color.
  6. If they are still alive, those two 'young' people will most likely be in nursing homes today. And that young gal could still use that puppy carrier as her walker. Makes me wonder if their great-great-grandchildren look like that now. Craig
  7. I wonder if this is the same car currently in the National Automobile Museum in Reno. Craig
  8. There is 'The Yenko Era...Canonsburg & Beyond by Mark Gillespe published a few years ago. Craig
  9. In 1966, Pontiac offered Plum Mist metallic. The same shade was also offered on GM's other four North American car divisions under different names. The best form of flattery was when Bob Marcks, who worked for Marcks, Hazelquist & Powers, who was in charge of updating the Studebaker designs for 1966 and 1967 Studebakers (the 1967 never happened) insisted on offering a dark purple shade after seeing a brand new 1966 Buick Riviera parked in downtown Detroit in that dark plum color. Below is Bob Marcks at a seminar in 2010 at the SDC International Meet, and a rendering for a possible 1967 or 1968 Studebaker. A Grande Parisienne in Plum Mist, and a 1966 Studebaker in P6490 Plum.
  10. Here's a '39 Commander with those same handles. Craig
  11. There have been a couple of Iris Mist '65 GTO's at the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals in Chicago over the years, including this one. In 1963, Oldsmobile offered 'Rose Mist' as did Studebaker. Craig
  12. That is correct, the combination is called Hialeah Lime/Sun Valley Yellow. That particular model is called the President Speedster which was a mid-year 1955 offering and 2215 were made, though not all were this color combination. More here-----> https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/forum/your-studebaker-forum/general-studebaker-specific-discussion/86277-factory-colors-on-speedsters Craig
  13. Don't forget, Chrysler offered Ultra Violet/Plum Crazy starting in 1970 as part of their optional 'Hi-Impact' colors. And a lot of B and E-body cars were painted those colors. Craig
  14. You're welcome! More on that car and the band here: https://forum.studebakerdriversclub.com/forum/your-studebaker-forum/general-studebaker-specific-discussion/70455-wildflowers-film-with-the-giant-studebaker-found Craig
  15. And Crosstown Motors in Edmonton was nearly a Canadian counterpart. If I remember right, Crosstown sold the highest number of Hemi-engine equipped late-60's; early '70's Dodges in Canada. Many survive, and at least one restored example has been shown at MCACN. Craig
  16. This rarer 1959 DeSoto wagon was in about the same condition as that '59 New Yorker, when it sold for almost 2K about 6 years ago. Craig
  17. In 1972, someone my mom worked with bought a brand new Mustang, and on her way home from the dealership, swung by our house to show it to her. First thing I looked at was the dealer invoice to see what it had for options, and it was exactly what I had thought; a typical bland and ordinary (to me) off-the-lot Mustang hardtop. Nothing special in the engine or transmission dept., 302-2V, C4 automatic, AM radio, (whoopie). The ONLY thing I can say that caught my eye on it were the kitchen cooks FoMoCo must have consulted in the staff dining room to play 'Name That Color'. According to the invoice, it was MEDIUM GINGER METALLIC with a Nutmeg interior! Craig
  18. Because I can just picture what their dads and their mothers would be saying when they saw, or heard about that!! Imagine if you were one of those boys' moms! Craig
  19. Today, you can buy a Hyundai Velostar with no left rear door. There's no real reason for not having a door now, with the inside door handle lockout feature that nearly all cars & trucks with rear doors have had for a couple of decades. Craig
  20. And for those who really can't make up their mind... The 1970 Barracuda 'color chip car' that was used in advertising.
  21. That is one I had in mind when I stated 'with very few exceptions' in my earlier thread. The sad part, is the '73 Grand Am was proof that the challenge of making 5-mph bumpers aesthetically pleasing could have been done right from the outset. Of course, the Corvette, the Chevelle Laguna, and the more expensive F-bodies also proved it, but they didn't look as good as a Grand Am. Craig
