  1. Sorry for late reply--looks like 65 to me, i actually had a pair just like this 20 years ago , while in California that i sold--was going to fit on my 65 but never got round to doing that. here is a photo of the 1966 inside of the pair just fitted on my 64 401 above with the original bracket that i fabricated on this forum about January 7th 8th this year.---notice the id number on the inside , sorry i can not remember or have a photo of the inside of the ones i sold 20 years ago---hope that helps you.
  2. My 64, 401 with 1966 valve covers fitted about 4 months ago, with non gs bracket.
  3. Thought this would interest members, as its history that should be recorded, because of its significant history, as when i lived in California i used to get , Old cars news---were very good think they stopped the issue back a few years---just found this one i kept-- for about 32 years. Wonder if all the facts in this article are still accurate today.
  4. Hello craig,---no the dynel cloth goes with resin, that is what gives it the strength, just lay it on the item your working with, clean and dry the item first,-,mask the area that you dont wont to strength en, lay the cloth down, then just adhere the resin with a brush, or small roller if its a big item, over the top, one coat to cover the dynel cloth---let it dry----minimum time is about 12 hours,---give it a rough sand to flatten it out, then a final coat of just the resin,- use plenty -let it dry--final sand to smooth. for memory i used to do them from about 9.00oclock to 3.00 oclock on the shroud top ,rap it around under to the inside.---for some reason i did many 1966 rivs for memory they were impossible to buy--probably still are--dont know Wayne.
  5. Craig, very easy to repair,--fiberglass, Dynel cloth small home kit ,available at home depot. It actually is stronger than original , and only costs about $40.00 If you want any tips i can help---reason i was born in New Zealand--nearly every Kiwi owns a boat. i repaired many BCA friends 1966 shrouds in California years ago. .
  6. This may be of interest.---i wonder if it still has its leather interior.
  7. Hi Intronaut,---were you able to find the source of your ticking noise. Reason there is another possible area to check. If you have recently remove all your spark plugs and refitted ,then it is not the other reason i am going to mention now. When i purchased my present 1964 Electra convertible 401ci, from USA, i live in Australia,--,4 years ago. the previous owner sent me a video of starting the Buick up so i could here it running from cold, he was always a bit concerned that it had a 1 noisy lifter, so when the video came through ---sure i could here it, but said to him--- no problem ---i will worry about it when it arrives into Australia. So after a couple of days driving etc, i decided to remove all the spark plugs, to inspect the colour and condition all were great and good, but when i started to remove them ,i started with the drivers side rear plug moving forward to the plug at the front nearest to the power steering pump, and put my hand down and could not believe it,--- i could remove it with my hand,---was about about 1 full turn from tight. thats what was causing the ticking like a lifter noise. i will get my daughter to try and send the video tomorrow,--not sure how to do that.--regards. sorry was not able to paste video.
  8. All ok John, got your address,----will take about 16 to 20 days to get to you.by Australia post. Thank you. Photo of my wife in our 73 Riv about 30 years ago,---i sold it a movie production company for the movie---, forces of nature---Sandra Bollack, Ben Afleck,--about 1993.

  11. John----think i may have one of those ,take a look tomorrow.
  12. Very nice,---for the boat tail three years i love the 71 the best.
  13. WE tend to forget and dont actually go back to basics ,when it comes to oils, when i lived in California, i had a classic car collection of about 15 different makes of cars , always about that many buying and selling , the area i lived was the Sacramento valley where it gets very hot 102 to 110 during the 3 to 4 months of summer, so all my classics were drivers, about 3 to 5 of these were Buicks, but in those 10 years i lived there i used Penzoil 10-40 in the summer, and in the colder months switched to Penzoil 15-30,--i never did find out what the zinc content was in those days, but was very pleased with that brand, and never ones did i ever have a engine problem, with all those cars. At the start here i said back to basics,--one has to read your original owners manual, and study it very carefully to the grade of oil you should use during the cold and hot temperatures you get where you live.----i think this is one of the most important areas to stick to. Here in Australia i use Valvoline XLD premium mineral ,15-40 all the time as where i live here temps are from approx 50 to 90 all the time. and it is high in zinc. and i have never used synthetic oil ,only in my latest Lexus NX 350 f sport Hybrid.
