  1. Further down in the forum there is a Chevrolet sub forum where this question might be answered quicker.
  2. Were Pontiacs of that era known as Gangster cars? Tommie gun props and Fedora. I thought most drove Fords.
  3. Car looks very nice. Dash has seen better days but from what I can see it would be fun to own. Be nice to have engine and some undercarriage photos especially if they hope to get $14,000 for it. For some of us that is a significant investment of money.
  4. Floor shifts were the order of the day for manuals in ‘61. They went to a column shift in ‘62. A friend had one in the late ‘60’s that had a beefed up six in it.
  5. There are at least two different lengths of push rod for that era Plymouths so I would think Chryslers would be the same. Make sure the lengths of the new ones are the same as the original ones. Front cylinders can be difficult at the best of times. I am not sure as I haven’t done mine for several years but I think the lower cylinder needs to be bled first, then the upper
  6. Friend of mine had one like that he bought new. Had a 4-11 rear gear in it. He had it changed to a 3-73 to help keep revs down. It was still the fastest accelerating car I ever rode in. Even felt faster than a hemi Road Runner I once got a ride in.
  7. Or as has been said before” How do you get good judgement? From lots and lots of bad judgement”
  8. Check here https://p15-d24.com/topic/48890-how-to-polarize-generator-1939-desoto/?tab=comments#comment-519099
  9. We had a 61 Ambassador with the 327 two barrel and it was a very good engine. Big car but it would move right down the road.
  10. The curved metal ones are very similar if not exact to the interior door handles on my 1952 Plymouth. The all metal window cranks do as well. I realize this is not in the range indicated but they might have a wide range of applications
  11. Not to worry John. In addition to a “dual exit” exhaust system, a reported brake service and an OIL CHANGE they took the nasty wheels off and put on factory rims with white wall tires and hub caps. Now the price will drop, maybe? Oh and the fuel gauge is inoperative too. 😊
  12. Looks great. And I just love the STOP light.
  13. Another car where if you live in a place not prone to ice and snow that could be a reasonable daily use car
  14. I thought I was the only one who shot model cars(and boats) to tiny pieces.
  15. I had a 72 Comet back in 77 or so. Little six(cheaper inline model) and three speed manual trans. Dull as could be but as reliable as anything I ever had from that era. Good milage and generally cheap to operate.
  16. Reminds me of the “Cash for Klunkers” program back in the double naught era to try to take old cars off the road and make way for new car sales. Engines had to be run dry until the seized and then the car junked. Good old American ingenuity at work.
  17. This is getting scary. Another reasonably priced nice driver in what appears to be in good condition
