  1. Yes ! Come to think of it, while in the Fire Service, every fire apparatus was manual shift...from three speeds to eight speeds. Now everything is automatic !
  2. How many out there can't drive a manual transmission ? Sounds crazy, but I was talking with a co-worker last night, only to find out that he has never own or driven a manual transmission vehicle and he is almost 60 years old ! I started out on my first vehicle , 1974 AMC JAVELIN with a 3 speed. I would practice in my parents long driveway, after learning the proper technique of using the clutch / accelerator ( and many burn outs 😉 ) I graduated to the streets. What vehicles did you learn on ? Steve
  3. That's how it started with me and going out into the garage with my Dad when he was working on the family cars....I was the official 5 year old drop light holder...lol
  4. LOL.... I have four kids, ages 15 thru 21. My youngest has some interest, but the others, none at all. I tried to peek their interest ( car shows, going for rides and doing maintenance ) nothing....My oldest boy who is 20, just got his driving permit.... they are into their electronic games. Steve
  5. The leaves are starting to change here in the Hudson Valley....
  6. Very familiar with the Park. we use to go to the car shows at Bear Mountain which were held every Wednesday during the summer months..... I grew up in Cold Spring, NY, on the other side of the Hudson River. Bear Mountain Bridge over the Hudson River
  7. I can relate to this.... I have done nothing with my project in months - after 25 years in this house, got a Home Equity loan and started a lot of over due projects for the house ( siding, deck, breezeway and that new kitchen that the wife has been patiently waiting for ) my goals of getting the car running this year went out the window, and then I went and purchase a vintage truck - I'm a glutton for punishment...LOL Chris - it will get there, your doing extraordinary work and it keeps me motivated with my own projects ! Steve
  8. J.H. - just check the tire size, they are LT 285 / 75R 16 and the rims diameter is 16.5..... going to have the rims sandblasted and powder coated white, I'll find out how wide they are at that time. Steve
  9. Truck came out of Englewood, Colorado - BURT CHEVROLET. INC cost $ 3220.78
  10. John - I've been searching the different auto / truck related web sites, especially Hemmings and Ebay over the past year or so. The one thing that I noticed with the auction sites, if there was a truck that I really like, the seven day auction would end early - this happen a few times on some really nice trucks. So I was determine if I found something that I like, I was not going to wait for the end of the auction to place a bid. In this case, I contacted the owner, spoke with him a few times and he sent more photos for me to look at. I knew what the current market value of these trucks are going for and I asked him what he wanted. We came to an agreement on price and the auction was ended. I ended up with a nice , original truck....the exhaust will need to be change back to factory spec and those rims, I don't think they are original, I believe that 3/4 and one ton trucks had split rims, either way, I'll end up having them painted white - it will be a good contrast to the black body. Steve
  11. Just took delivery of this 1969 Chevrolet C20 truck... it's been three years since I had my other C20 and I missed having one. This one came out of South Dakota, a Bean Farmer had it in his collection - all original truck, really nice! Thanks Bill & Dave with helping me with the transporting. Steve

  15. Yup, that's all that I've been using.... never had any issues
  16. The following photo was posted over on FB, I don't know the specifics that led to this fire. As we head into the Fall and Day light savings, we are reminded to change out our smoke & CO2 detector batteries. I have fire extinguishers located throughout my detached garage and I'm looking into the different types of detectors. Just curious what type of fire suppression system ( one vehicle garage, to multi-vehicle garage ) that the membership is using. Thanks
  17. A few years back, I purchased a lot of rare, expensive NOS parts for my current restoration ( fenders, trim, molding, etc ) and since the parts were in southern NJ, I made a day trip out of it ( 10hrs ) plus I took my daughter along for the ride... just a thought. 🙂 Steve
  18. I have use Fastenal a few times ( quarter panels, rear step bumper and just recently a transmission. It worked out perfect each time, but check their web site for more information... the transmission and bumper were strapped onto a pallet, the quarters were in a crate / pallet....
