  1. I do recall as my sisters boy friend had a dark blue 62 Galaxie 500 before he got the 63-1/2 and it had a 406 with the 3-2s. This was in the later 60s maybe 65. The car was very fast inspite of the added weight.
  2. I thought about the changes that were occurring a little later and remembered that my sister bought a 1964 Fairlane Sport Coupe around the same time. silver with black interior (very sharp looking car) this was when Ford was campaigning the Thunderbolt (Fairlane with the 427)
  3. When I first looked at the car the lower section appeared to be coral. The description does say pink. Either way it is a beautiful car.
  4. When I was in high school my sisters boyfriend had a black 63-12 XL with the 427. I still remember how beautiful that car was and the Saturdays spent at the dragstrip. Those were some good times. The 63 Box Top had the option of a 406 with tri power.
  5. I agree with everything you said, the glove box also has the xl label and the fenders too. If you put all of the work into this car you still have the box top 63 instead of the more desirable fastback 63-1/2. Be patient, the right car will come along, they built a ton of these cars.
  6. I would not have posted the pic of the trunk. Certainly the car has a trunk and it is nice to know that you have the air cleaner, but what is all the rest of that stuff? I did notice the spare speedo. Why not clean out the trunk and take separate pics of spare parts and a clean trunk?
  7. There have been some beautiful '55 & '56 Packards listed on the forum with very becoming colors, inside and out. Nice looking interior, but the exterior is boring IMHO.
  8. I have never seen the 390 Thunderbird emblems on a thunderbird. I believe that the 390 was standard on the '63 Thunderbird, so there would be no reason for Ford to put them on.
  9. I agree, that is a possibility. On the other hand the buyer might believe that he should offer all cash at the 20k price before the value of the car hits 22k. No, just kidding most reasonable people will believe that the car is worth no more than 16k and you would be dealing with a fool here and a greedy one at that. If the seller cannot be straight forward and honest with the price, why should you trust him with the condition of the car? When dealing with this much money, I would rather deal with some one who is honest.
  10. Curious strategy going on here, I have seen it before so there is more than one person out there with this thought process. The plan is keep raising the price of the car until it sells. Now I'm not saying this guy is all wet, maybe in these times with inflation is on everyone's mind that the seller is onto something. I just don't buy into it. IMO you can go too far with wide white wall tires and you end up with a clown car. He is really on the edge here.
  11. Very large fan of this era Oldsmobile, but what disturbs me is sellers who want all the money for a MAJOR project, but are too lazy to push the car out of the garage and take some honest pictures of the entire project. C'mon man put just a little effort in to the sale of this car.
  12. I couldn't see it until the brochure was posted. Having stated that, to bring this car to that level will take a very large investment. Even at that stage IMO you will have a beautiful car that is worth half of what you have put into it. I sure would like to see this car finished if some takes it on.
  13. This is a beautiful car without the continental kit. The car looks pregnant with it.
  14. I believe there is a fan club out there for Chevs of the 40s, but this might be the high end of the market for this car. I would compare it to the '40 Super that DEAC recently purchased, which in my opinion is very well sorted out. Does a chevy of the same era bring 5K more? Maybe the seller is adding in some sentimental value. Very pretty car IMO.
  15. What is with the statement, "Toying with the idea.... Does this mean he is leaning towards selling the car, or the thought just crossed his mind? Maybe this means, no tire kickers and the price is firm. Great looking car that is pretty well preserved. My truck fits in my garage with 2" to spare, I would have to modify my garage for this car.
  16. I would drive this car everywhere and everyday except to the grocery store. I hate grocery carts. Beautiful car.
  17. Not a big fan of sedans, but this car makes up for it with the V8. I would leave the dice behind. Seems like a fair price.
  18. DEAC, I forgot one thing. I did not mean to criticize the stylish hub caps that are on your car. Like I always say, I took my car down to the frame and all the decisions that either make my car appealing, or an eyesore were mine. So if anyone does not like anything about it, I'm ok with that because at the end of the day it is My car.
  19. Deac, I am not a shill for Bob's Automobilia, but..... I purchased the sill plates from him and they fit and look beautiful (not cheap). My car still needs some tweaking, but it's coming along. If you come across any parts cars Super or Roadmaster, please drop me a line. I will check out your Pontiac. Stay in touch. Mike
  20. All of the expensive stuff has been sorted out on your car, such as interior(mine was $6000), paint, wiring and trans. Bob's Automobilia will have the correct trim rings and hub caps for your car. I couldn't tell if the wheels are stock 16" or not. I have been told that some people opted to change out the 16s for 14s. Very sharp looking car, you will get noticed on the road. Doug rebuilt my steering column, he does good work.
  21. Very nice car, looks as nice as the day it was driven off the showroom floor. I've seen a few, but none nicer.
