  1. Jack, Welcome to the forum. Seems that you have already got the Buick bug. You could visit your local library and see what types of books are available on Buicks. I recommend reading many of the Me and my Buick threads. Scroll down on the forum to the Buick section and you will see it. You have a good idea, trying to contact a "local" guy with a 50's car. Might I recommend 47'? I'm especially swayed toward the 46, 47, 48's. Love the lines. Feel free to also post in this in the Buick General forum. If you really get excited about Buicks and buy one, please join the BCA and attend your local chapter. Attend as many meets and cruises as possible and ask lots of questions here. That's what we are here for. Matt
  2. Robert, Looking good. Tell your dad not to be so hard headed! Glad you are making progress. Matt
  3. I got there early once again today. As I was walking up the hill in the parking lot, They started to play the National Anthem. So, I stopped, mid hill, blocked my wagon with my foot, took my hat off and placed my hand over my chest and sang along. Many people walked past me, none stopped!! Not one! Many were older gentlemen. I was appalled. I intentionally walked in front of people on golf carts driving too fast to make them slow down. All day! I literally felt like I was out to commit suicide several of those times. There were no announcements yesterday at all. Today, the familiar voice of past years was there, but didn't have much to say.....Seems the only thing they announced was people parked in the car corral that shouldn't be or similar situations. But, what a great day. Sorry I didn't get to see you Susan. I was looking for you. Matt
  4. Koby, I hope you are having the "time of your life" right now. I've been here since Wednesday afternoon and am having a ball myself. Please fill us in on your experience when you get back home. Matt
  5. Almost forgot........I dropped my wooden bow and the irons from my convertible top off with Restorer32 here on the chat board. Jeff is a really great guy and cannot wait to see the results of his work when he gets my new bow done. Matt
  6. Today was a slammer! Bought a very nice grill (complete) with mustache bar for a song. Guy didn't want to take it back with him. Bought new door sills for the car. This hurt the most $$$$. Got another spare radio for parts. Has UICK buttons that are nice. The B is missing the metal insert. Found and purchased Right and Left side NOS old dealer stock rocker panels for 42 - 48 Buick Series 50-70! Another song. Going to see what it will cost me to make some more sets. You just don't find these anymore NOS never installed. Purchased a wagonload of 46-48 convertible only parts from another guy, plus he has a 48 76C car, complete that I'm going to see next week. He's only 30 min. from my house. Another RM convertible in the stable?? Probably because I think the price is going to be right! Looks like I'll be living in the stable when wifey sees it! HA! Got a TP showtime paint system from a guy who used it two times. I was gonna buy a new one, but on the way to the TP space, I run into this guy with this one and made a sweet deal on it! I'll post some pictures of some of the stuff after I get home and straightened around. Sometimes it's o.k. to have triplicates on things. Kaching! Matt
  7. Sorry to hear about the car. Good thing you were there to react and start putting it out until the F.D. got there. Best of luck with the insurance co. Matt
  8. Well, Made it to Hershey this afternoon. Just happened to have my door lock cylinder with me in the truck and had a new key made at Jessers. Now I can open everything and work the ignition. Also talked with Librandis about some chrome work. Nice people. Lots of bare and open spaces. Went by the BCA tent and it was closed???? It was fixin' to rain, so maybe closed up shop for the night. Had a great time at the AACA Night at the Museum. Was a really nice, pleasant atmosphere and was enjoyed by all. Calling it a night. More Buick treasure hunting tomorrow. Matt
  9. Tom, Pete has sent you in the correct direction. I have rebuilt 2 of my pumps and a couple for others. Not a difficult task. As Pete stated, the pump unit is probably gummed up. You can remove the unit from your car, remove the resevoir and work your way in. Hydro-E-Lectric also sells a kit so you could rebuild your pump yourself. You can purchase the resevoir and seal separately also. I would imagine that the gage is available also. A question come to mind: 1. Is the motor on the unit turning on? I have seen some units have oxidized connections on the solenoid, even rusted off. Thus no power. Hope this helps. Matt
  10. Congrats on the sale Pete. Hope the buyer follows through with the transaction. Hope to see you in a couple of days. Matt
  11. Dale, Get to feeling better. Can't have you not feelin' well. Matt
  12. Just wanted to wish safe travel and hope that everyone arrives without problems to the meet. Hopefully I'll be able to meet so many of you sometime during the week. Matt
  13. Brian, Always nice to see progress on another ones car. Feels good don't it!? Matt
  14. John, Hope you get to feeling better. 2 shots of tequilla and sleep is my prescription for what is ailing you! Works for me when I get that crappy feeling. 2 or 3 days in a row before bed. Matt
  15. Pete, I thought that was yours when I saw it listed. Good luck on the sale. Should be an easy sell for you and i nice start for someone else. Matt
  16. Well, some good news. My idea on straightening the door is working. Involves a very heavy hammer, come-a-long hooked to a d-ring in the floor of the garage and a 2x4 to absorb the blow. Just going to take it a little at a time. I also worked on some pieces that need to be chromed that had some dents in them. I also am working on some of my extra parts. Might need to sell some of the 3rd sets to fund some of the chroming costs and possibly paint costs. Matt
  17. Jared, One thing to always remember........Life is gonna get in the way from time to time. I was making what I would consider to be leaps and bounds, working on my 47 RM convertible. Then life decided I needed to stop working on it for 3 or so months because of health reasons. I'm just about ready to head full bore, right back into it over the winter. Hopefully I'll be able to see paint before it gets too cold and snow flies. Little bites are the only way to eat an elephant. Not my quote, but I learned that from an wise old man many years ago. If you can do something well, like upholstery, tune-ups, mowing grass, delivering papers, etc. Let that be your car fund building place and don't take from it unless it's for the car. Just my 2 cents, cause that's all I can afford with Hershey coming up. Gotta have all the money for there............just in case I find something I gotta have for the car. Matt
  18. I've thought about that. But, I have an idea on straightening it that I'll try first. I have a spare set of doors, but are rusted pretty bad at the bottom. They will help me get the right "curveature" back in the right spot. I have to set up some tables in the basement for the seats and uphostery that I'll be working on during the winter. Then I'll have the car "freed back up" to start bodywork and letting some primer fly again. Matt
  19. I haven't done much of anything.... Still have to finish up bodywork on passenger door, and front clip. Then have to seal everything, high build primer, sand, prime, sand, paint, etc. I'll be working on interior panels and finishing the seats and trying to work on the stainless throughout the winter months. Still have to put in the wiring harness after I get all painted. If I can get back into the swing of things, I might have a driver sometime next year.
  20. Put the other 2 rims and tires on today that I got from my buddy 41Roadmaster! Contemplating removing the seat and working on more upholstery until I can manhandle more stuff around. I have some more body work to do to the front fenders and am contemplating removing the front clip again, but not sure and it will have to wait until I can lift stuff again. Getting my plan together for this winter and trying to organize. Matt
  21. I got my wagon out and lubricated the old wheels for this year. Still looks good for its age! Feeling very good after the surgery. Went to Hershey Saturday and walked around all day with wife and kids. (Pre-Fall meet workout). Checked out my camper and started loading it tonight. Looks like wife and kids aren't going this year. "More room for stuff on the way home". Getting anxious for Wednesday 12:00 when I hook up and head that way! Matt
  22. Bob, Looking very impressive. You could still be done for Hershey at this rate! hehe. Hope to see you there. Matt
  23. West, I am trying to accumulate some of these back issues...I am very interested. Please forward him my info. Thanks Matt I'll pm you with my info.
