If I can’t find a decent replacement, I’ll have to weld the broken one then send all 4 out to be plated. It’s a pain. I’d rather just put new ones on it. Seems like a pretty plain hinge but I’d need to be able to line up the rivet holes or this trunk will start to look like Swiss cheese!

Where do I find the dates of future Hershey fall meets? My wife’s birthday is Oct. 4 so I won’t be going any years that interfere with her day.

I have a 1931 LaSalle Fleetwood Ccp that is a resto-rod project. Original body with 1” square tubing frame on an original frame. Has Chevy S-10 engine and drive train with power steering. Ok, off topic but sometimes I just can’t believe what people say vrs what they think they mean. A hot water heater! Just don’t understand why anyone would call it that. If it’s hot water, why the heck would you need a heater for it!

Jak, we both have the same longing. I have a friends 12 yr old daughter that is engineering inclined. She is always interested in my car, boat and parts projects. I’d like to teach her how to make molds, pour waxes and machine parts after the castings come back. She does tend to wander her interests a bit but heck, she’s just 12! If I could get her to focus on making parts, I’d be willing to share the parts making hobby and eventually give her my 125 molds for her future interest in parts making. It’s just nice seeing someone this age interested in producing something other the calluses on their finger tips!

Ok, I’m gonna chime in here too. Maybe it’ll give some light to young enthusiasts. I was never a good student, not because I’m dumb, just wasn’t interested. Graduated high school and tried college. Three schools in three semesters. Thats when I thought I might try a warm beach instead of the cold in upstate NY. While laying on a beach in the Bahamas, I lucked onto a sailboat needing help to get back to Florida. I spent the next 45 years on yachts. I didn’t have a college degree but now had a passion for something. I figured out how to make this a comfortable living running and moving wealthy peoples yachts. I was lucky enough to have found a woman with the same passion, a degree and experience in accounting. We bought our own yacht. I fixed it and she promoted it. I don’t say that an education is or isn’t a necessity but I do believe ANYONE can learn and teach themselves to find what works for them. If you research enough and listen to others with experience, there’s no reason to be a “wage worker” and no reason you can’t start your own profitable place in which ever field that entices you. Now that I’m retired, I figured out how to make molds for needed antique car parts and I’m now overly busy making parts for fellow enthusiasts. I wish I new the lady in question as I have no one to pass on my learnings or hobby to.

Euw, that’s ugly!

When I grew up on Lake George, NY, most of the marinas and shops had several round glass fire extinguishing units that could be thrown at a fire to help put it out. These were held in a metal cradle that was screwed to the wall. I’d like to have a couple to put on my shop wall. I’m wondering why an attractive title (click bait) is a horrible thing? When you take the time to write something, most times you’d like it read. Giving an enticing title seems a good way to start. I guess we should just put a number where the title goes and hope people will take the time to open and read #71562 !
