  1. Hi , what thread do you use and which needle ? Thanks
  2. OK.....thinking about this for positive ground British cars if battery put in as negative ground....... Will the starter turn the right direction ? and will the fuel gauge work ? Wiper motor ? I doubt the radio will work , but will it be damaged ? Thanks for your thoughts
  3. My buddy had the Curtis Key cutter to cut VW keys , He would set-up at the VW show and make keys for old door handles / ignition switches that people would bring by , He was also able to pull the tumblers out and match the pins to make matching handles. Smart guy
  4. Is your question how to get a jack under it when the car is sitting on the ground ? You can weld up an "adapter" that mounts to the lug bolts and sits far enough away from the body to get a floor jack under the Adapter , one corner at a time , I would not help anyone fix a car with Airbags set-up like this , yes it looks "Cool" but it turns the car into a death trap,
  5. Just to be sure , the contact on the Amp gauge is just to get "+ power" and has nothing to do with the Amp gauge , just in case your car does not have an Amp Gauge .
  6. I also put an extra fuel filter under the gas tank where it goes into the chassis. Just a regular large metal fram fuel filter , On these old bugs there is always rust , dirt etc in the tank that can get into your carb jets Been there too many times .
  7. Hi , thanks for reminding us about the problems machining magnesium , we can never be too safe , But we also do not need to be scared to use it , we have machined it before , Its just trying to find a foundry that will cast it for us !
  8. I guess the first question is , are there any smaller scale magnesium casting shops left ? The shop in Los Angeles was nice enough but they said they were so far behind on customers parts that they did not want to take on new projects that might not get looked at for a year plus! Anyway these molds are for valve covers , sumps , small intake manifolds etc , We just need them cast , the shop has mills , lathes etc to finish them. Thanks for your help , PS.......yes I know magnesium burns hot and you need the proper fire extinguisher , And we already make them in aluminum , this is just for the "Cool Factor"
  9. I was thinking steaming like you do with wrinkled shirts , or maybe a hair dryer, I am assuming that the copper wire did not get hard, Hopefully this discussion will help others in the future .....
  10. Hi , I am helping fix a 1968 912 Porsche and would like to use the original wiring harness , which is in good shape .....EXCEPT The plastic covering is hard in a few places on many of the wires , . Is there a "secret sauce" that will soften the plastic covering , This would be the individual wires , not the black tube that goes around the bundle. Or other ideas , maybe a steamer or ????? Thanks for your ideas
  11. FedEx , UPS and probably DHL have a fixed size box up to 10kg for a fixed price , sorry I do not remember the name of this service , but used it a few times , let me see if i can Google find it !
  12. Is this in Spray cans ? or by the quart that you need to need to mix ? Thanks
  13. Fun day at Pomona , clear skys , lots of people and warm but not too hot , Next one is in December
