Some of Y'all knew my Dad, Joe Miller. He passed away in October of 2011. And left his Roadmaster to me. Dad Bought the Roadmaster in 1970 for $300. Dad drove it back and forth to work for two years He and I restored it twice. The first time in 1972-1974 Then again in 2000-2001 Here is Dad in Columbus Georgia 1976

I agree with Ben. Before throwing parts at the problem have it checked out by someone well versed in old cars.

If everything is operating at peak efficiency the lights shouldn't dim at idle. I wouldn't think you have a short. I think a short would have more dramatic results. Perhaps, rebuild of, the generator and voltage regulator are in order.

I wouldn't worry about the clock until you get your charging issues resolved.

Good advice Pete is giving you there. After reading your other thread regarding your battery, I would add, with a proper working clock battery problems and disconnecting the battery can cause problems for the clock. I remember reading in the shop manual or owners manual instructions for connecting the battery and maintaining proper clock winding.

1954 Roadmaster, only. 1955 had a blank fender where the '54 wore the Roadmaster badge

Right you are Identifiers for For '55; canted 'A' pillar (Special or Century) parking lights separate from the headlight door ( Special or Century) 4 door hardtop (Special or Century) 4 holes on the fender (not a Special) It's a Century
