  1. Great thread! I too am attempting the very same thing. I have experimented with removing the Tar undercoating....scared me and the mere thought of removing it all puts me on the floor in the fetal position shaking and speaking in tongues. Mike your posts always inspire me, I will be sure to save this thread for reference when I work up the nerve to get under the car and do it right. Glad to hear that it is not only ok to leave the body on but you can still get award results if you work at it hard enough. Thanks Jim for starting this thread...required reading for newbies like myself.
  2. Angers you??? I guess so, thats personal man! Just checked the add is still up, maybe by the start of the business day it will be dealt with. I'd be tempted to mess with him, get an address to send send money to then tell him the Feds are on their way to hit him with Mail fraud.
  3. Another great way to stop these type of attacks is the use of Firefox and No-Script. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722/
  4. Looks to me like a typical data miner... Driving Revenue - How It Works Google lobbies hard to many of these security companies to not include their intrusive stuff. We are being watched and tracked at all times on the net....which was why using alternative systems was endorsed in this thread. I doubt AACA installed this on their own or even if it really did actually originate from them.
  5. ...or better yet go to the FREE Ubuntu OS Easy and Virus free!
  6. Likely a false positive... When is says "generic" it means that it sees something that it doesn't know if it is good or bad so it says it is bad. HEUR: Trojan.Win32.Generic – What is it and how to get rid of it? (Kaspersky detection) | malwarecrawler.com URGENT! Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 Alert "HEUR:Trojan-Downloader.Script.Generic" in LiveContent - No Access to my Site - Mandeeps.com - Mandeeps.com > Innovative DNN Modules & Gear > Forum - Modules - Live Content
  7. I am new at this...just over a year and I have learned so much from this community. Most importantly, don't set "Deadlines" or even time goals, they only serve to frustrate what should be a fun activity...in other words don't turn it into another "Job" that has to get done. You will only start to resent the whole idea. Work on it when it suits you...don't when it doesn't. I think you will find it will take more time yes but also the quality of the work will be better and most importantly you will be having fun at it! Mike said it best right here.....
  8. Perfect way to describe stainless buffing..... The concept of having to sand before buff is important. Sanding takes off the peaks of the scratch without touching the valley. Buffing wears at the valleys as you wear down the peaks so it will take more time and material off before you get it all smooth and shiny. Also, follow the technique in the link I posted...its important to push or pull the piece on the wheel depending if you are cutting or colouring the piece.
  9. Just look at all that salt looking at that Buick! .....uuggh,
  10. This thread started about the people, the men a women who gave their lives for freedom. It really is what we need to think about more when we do actually think about the sacrifices made rather than what team they were on. That being said I want to applaud Des for stating what is far too often over looked.... That we Canadians have a deep and very honourable Military record, we are always ready to stand and fight when called upon....it needs to be repeated often as there are some who may be not aware. I have a couple of videos I pull out every Remembrance Day I think they speak best to what Des was talking about and also speaks directly about the people...the men and women that gave their lives to allow us to enjoy our debates on why they made the ultimate sacrifice. The interesting part is these clips are told by Americans On a side note..Lamar, your story weighed heavy on me. My Dad and I used to go to the Veterans home and bring all kinds of "Contraband" for them to enjoy. We spent some time and just listened...they just want to tell their story. I have not done this in years and will be sure to call Pops for another run over the holidays, to see a couple of heroes and thank them for their service and listen to one more story. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1R8qLAmkLU?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1R8qLAmkLU?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrA4V6YF6SA?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrA4V6YF6SA?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3IutxvltBM?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h3IutxvltBM?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
  11. I started with following the advice from here: Introduction To Buffing and Polishing - Caswell Inc. I enjoy Buffing, not physically demanding......just takes plenty of time. It also makes a huge dirty and dusty mess!
  12. Don't get me wrong....I was actually referring to myself when I said "Its easy to go negative...." We see so much true crap these days from TV............how can one not.
  13. I want to be Rick Young when I grow up.... ....or adopted by MrEarl and live at Buick Gardens Either one will do.
  14. It's easy to go negative...these days we just assume less than altruistic motives from people we see on TV. Glad to hear someone give the true inside info, thanks Jason! ...they are just boring old regular folk like us who have a passion for what they do and scored by being able to share it on TV! Yea, they have to "Doll it up" for TV but it is what is and I for one am glad that we finally, for the first time, have a respectable set of individuals on "Reality TV" Tuttles anyone?
  15. Give it a day or so and Google spiders will have tagged this post.... A Google search for "Trim and Colour options for 1957 Buick" should link to your post Truth be told, the insane level of data mining that Google does is disconcerting to say the least. Nice post BTW....should be very helpful to many.
  16. You missed some other items from your cupboard MrEarl... Keeping with the health food and pork product theme of this nice SPAM thread....anybody for some Pork Brains in Milk and Gravy? It's the gravy that gives it the extra brainy taste. ...and for those of you who like your food to have a BITE to it:
  17. Catfish.....bahhh!!! Filters for the river, as a young lad my buds and I would catch some and bring them to the local store/restaurant and trade for Pizza! ....what he used the fish for I'll never know:eek: Come to think of it, he used to use sliced spam on his Pizzas. A repressed memory just came out I think...wonder what Spam is made from fish? Spish?
  18. Nothing better than a satisfied customer! ...truth be told, that would have bothered you for months right?
  19. Gee I wonder why:confused::confused::confused: ...sounds like they make regular Pork Rinds seem more like a health snack. You guys still have those Non-Filtered Marlboro's down there?
  20. I can feel your pain... I used to work with PVC plumbing and you can have a whole manifold made and forget to put a fitting in right and bammm...the whole thing is ruined! I would think that you could find a 1/4 " somewhere....only you will know that you "cheated" the line a little
  21. I admit I had to Google image those 53's and yes I missed the fact that there is no extra dip on the side bottom edges....it goes straight around. Thanks for clearing that up for me...makes perfect sense
  22. ...don't forget all the small toys/tools we all have. I would go through a battery every year for my ATV as I use it to plow my driveway, now I just plug in the lighter adaptor into the light pod when done and its been 3 years now on the same battery. Also great for the lawn tractor ect...
  23. You have it first hand right in your face and you obviously sound like you know your way around a car restoration...your account of what it was is most likely I would think. I love your plan to keep it 53 Skylark with the 54 window...do you plan on posting progress pics for all of us to drool over?
