  1. I was just reading an article about the LeMay Museum in the current issue of Collectible Automobile. In it they show a '26 Oldsmobile which was restored in a carport in Australia. Any connection here?
  2. What an interesting project Chuck. All that documentation and history makes it al that much more worthwhile. It is as it has a soul.
  3. I actually drove it down the driveway today. My wife and daughter took short videos. One is on Facebook. Is there a way of getting it here?
  4. Like JV, I was born in 1951 and have a 34 Chevy.
  5. Funny you mention that. He said his wife was making a set of covers for them.
  6. Not working on the car, away working on a paying job. Came across these two in one of my landowner's shop:'30 Ford & '24 Studebaker. This job is fraught with dangers.
  7. You started with a good car. I was a bit foolish. Good luck with the project. You could do as I did and start posting from the beginning even if it was some time ago.
  8. More time consuming, invisible work. Timed the engine. Still has a bit of hesitation when applying throttle. Once it picks up though it revs right up. Adjusted the stops for the pedals then the clutch linkage. Lesson learned: always adjust the clutch linkage when the engine is cold. It is very warm with your head and hands between the firewall and the manifold. Installed an old dash to set the steering column in its proper position for adjustement.
  9. I was at a small show today and this '32 was there. Thought Mr.Keiser would enjoy it, and evryone else of course.
  10. That engine would have looked good in my GT Hawk.
  11. I am planning to, if I can find someone who can handle the technology.
  12. :)Got a few hours in today. Finished hooking up the vacuum line to the starterator. Started the engine and the arm retracts from the gas pedal. So mission accomplished on that one. Installed the air cleaner. The other day, while removing some parts of a car in the bush I found what goes on the small angle on the side of the frame. It is a spring that keeps the brake cable away from the tire when you turn. So I installed a couple. Once I had everything in place I installed the toe board to be able to use the accelerator and reinstalled the gearshift. Jacked up the rear wheels, started the engine with the starterator, put it in gear and the wheels turn. And the brakes stopped them. I think we are ready for a drive to the end of the driveway.
  13. Thank you makes sense. And here I was going through great pains to make sure mine were pointed straight down.
  14. John, possibly a dumb question. What is the purpose of turning the exhaust clamps?
  15. Nice job Scott. Were you a bodyman in a former life?
  16. There's a perfect example of how the blacksmith evolved into a mechanic. Look at the signs on the building.
  17. There is nothing I'd love more than buying this car. I need the lottery.
  18. No work on the car today. Moved dirt for my wife's latest flower bed extension. Received a new top cylinder for the Mustang. Cleaned up the Mustang for a local parade tonight.
  19. It has been a while. Spending some time away from home doing contract work. Spent a week camping with my family. Between picking up, helping my wife with her latest flower bed I managed a few things on the car. Painted the trunk lid supports. Reinstalled the starterator. Wasted a lot of time finding a c-clip small enough to hook up the linkage to the dashpot. Started figuring how to run a vacuum line to the dashpot on the starterator using the same source as the wipers. Visited the painter. The black '69 Barracuda he had been working on is done. Looks like I'm next.
  20. GM's of the 40's are very reliable cars when they are in good condition. I had a 47 Olds straight 8 with Hydramatic and it was one of the best vehicles I have ever owned, solid, reliable and well built. The only thing that I didn't like was its tendency to wallow on its four coils. But the streets here are like roller coasters so it may not be torally the car's fault.
  21. I'm with Roger on that. Pinstriping is in a class by itlself as far as skills go. Beautiful work!!!
  22. Try posting in the Buick forums down below, lots of Buick experts there.
  23. Flop, I see you are in Model A's big time. Maybe you should have a jig to rebuild all those bodies that are either rusted or cut up. Just an opinion, I'm not one to coach wizards and artists.
