  1. Well, I have always loved old trucks and have had a passion for Chrysler products for as long as I can remember, so.......... the old 53 Dodge truck could come live with me.
  2. scouts have always been known for rust problems and this one being from the north would need checked very carefully. I would strongly suggest putting it on a rack where the frame can be checked. If the frame is good, then it is a matter of the cost to rebuild. most parts can be found if there is a good foundation to start with.
  3. I think 72-80 are all the same, but check further before taking my word for it. Here is a link to a supplier who has body panels. Don't know much about them. http://scoutparts.com/
  4. Not sure these guys can be considered cheap, but check them out anyway. http://www.anythingscout.com/ also http://www.northwesternautosupply.com/index.html Good luck on your project and keep us posted on your progress.
  5. Good work, Commodore, that should settle the question
  6. I think it is very rare to find the printed bottle. Most newer ones used clear glass. It seems to be much older than 1950. Check out this e bay listing for reference http://www.ebay.com/itm/1937-38-39-VINTAGE-GM-CHEVROLET-TRICO-WINDSHIELD-WASHER-BOTTLE-BUICK-PONTIAC-/121376589536?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c429bc6e0&vxp=mtr
  7. I tend to believe it may be an industral application, such as a haul truck. That would explain the use for the grade % and seasonal mileage functions. How high a speed can the speedometer register? If it tops out at 60 or 70 mph that would also point to a slower moving vehicle rather than an automobile.

First thought was a 46-48 Buick taillight, but they had a round chrome ring around the big end.
  9. Here is a rather long article that mentions a Herroun auto. Do not know if there is any new info in it or not. The part about the car is about 1/3 down the article. page 11. http://retiredday.wordpress.com/the-berthoud-pass-incident-3/
  10. there is a Maxwell forum further down the list here in the AACA forums. Just go out of this general forum and start scrolling down to find it. Should be some folks familiar with Maxwell there who would have some good info for you. Best of luck to you and your friend with the car.
  11. Looks similar to Studebaker, just changed enough to be legal as aftermarket.
  12. There is one here in the AACA "commercial" forum for sale. Running 49 Divco milk truck with the stand up drive still working, Continental 4 cyl engine, still original, lots of pictures, priced $5000 - 6000. You might want to check it out. Not too many here ever scroll down far enough to check this forum out as it is almost the last one.
  13. OOPS! I just googled 65 chevy gas tank after you said there may be a connection and that one popped up. I tried it again and found a reference to a 60 chevy. Neither Google or E Bay are accurate every time so some more search would be needed. Also chevelles, novas, etc used ddifferent tanks. Here is a pic that identifies it as a 60 chevy.
  14. Glad I could help. I love trying to identify cars and parts.
  15. 65 Chevy Impala gas tank picture
  16. The General Jumbo wheels are only 9 spoke, the wheels on the Studebaker are 10 spoke.
  17. I know the Dodge Avengers do not have a good reputation and are not anything really special, but I have one of the first ones made in 2008. It has been a good car with few problems. It was my wifes choice for a car for her and she still loves its looks. If I could afford it, I would buy one of the last 2014s and plan on keeping it. But the 2008 will have to stay around for a while longer.
  18. I found two sources, one shows 19gl and the other 20gl US. May be a difference in the model Buick you have as to which is right. This should get you close enough for most needs. Hope this helps.
  19. That sounds like the right color. There is no way to put a value on the car without having someone who is knowlegable in this type of car physically inspect it for any hidden flaws, check its history and paperwork etc.
  20. Might try a long flexable magnet to see if you can fish the rod out.
  21. unusual for the two clusters to show up in such a short time period and nobody can identify them. Wonder if they were found in locations that were near to eachother. Could be a clue.
  22. Ok you asked for wrong guesses, so, just for comparison, look at the small teeth in the lower part of a 52 Pontiac grille.
  23. Until someone proves me wrong, I am going with aftermarket from the 40s or 50s.
  24. This might help http://www.rasloto.com/specs/ospecs.html
