  1. Contact Allied Vaughn, Livonia, MI. or GM Media Archive. They are on the web, and contact info is there. I agree that is a 1910 era ID plate. Allied can give you a copy of the actual build sheet for this auto based on the plate number (engine number) that you send them. There is a fee for this service, so if you don't have the auto to go with the plate, it might be a little spendy for the info. I used them to verify my 1904 Cadillac years ago. Good luck
  2. George, The sketches that I sent you of the rear step plate have the wrong phone number attached. I have a 1904 B Touring (original condition), if your friend has any questions that I can help him with. Thanks
  3. That's great. Did the pictures help?
  4. Jonah, Oil drip gauge (dash), oil tank, oil line to engine. Hope this helps. Skip
  5. Hi Jonah, I would be glad to send pictures of the oil system, showing the lines, tank, and dash drip gauge. Your steering box is the same as mine, they did not change for many years, so can't help you much with that. The Brush is tucked away for the winter, so it may take some time to get at it. It's only -10 degrees today so not much happens in this fridgid state. My Brush came with a magneto style coil box, but the engine never had a magneto devise on the engine. Mine being a 1912 Model F may have used left over parts from the previous years production I was told. Still trying to verify that comment. I will send you pictures soon. Thanks Skip 1912 Brush F 1904 Cadillac B touring
  6. "freighter jim" is the Model T hauler referred to by others as "truly vintage". He is active on the MTFCA site regularly, but I do not know if he hauls all over the country. He has good reviews on the Ford sites and if he does not cover your area he could recommend someone for sure, Good luck.
  7. That is the kind of contractor that gives his profession a bad name. When I was contracting we would help our community in any way we could. If the small job looked like it might be beyond their expertise, we would have our shop guys weld, cut, or thread small jobs. I have been retired 12 years, so maybe times have changed. Too bad, good PR goes a long way.
  8. What have I learned? That is such an open ended question that it is hard to respond. Good vs. bad, like vs.dislike, original vs. over restored, joking vs. truth, dumb response vs. accurate knowledge, drive it vs. store it, young new member vs. old salt, I can go on and on about hot issues, conflicting viewpoints, and useful information. I know what I like and dislike, so what I have learned is to tune out the complainers, listen to experienced old timers, and be open to the new viewpoints of others. And most importantly be respectful even if you disagree.
  9. Almost looks like a mid 60's Corvair wheel.
  10. I hate to admit how cold it has been in northern MN.. Some would question my sanity for living in such a wonderful state. -20 to -30 since Christmas has been a common occurrence. Last year we had 13 days below 0 all year. We have already had 12 days below 0 and the coldest days of winter are not over yet. This coming week is due to be above 32 so I guess we will need to break out the sun tan oil. Stay warm, I think I will look for rental property in AZ.
  11. I started out with one, then two, and before you know it they had kids. Sound familiar. Five cars in a three car attached garage is a challange. Now it's time to downsize come spring.
  12. George, just contact the DMV in St. Paul. They will give you plenty of info and the process is not that bad. Former ownership is transferable if the former owner can provide documentation and possibly insurance coverage. You will need insurance before you apply.
  13. DeLorean. Like the body style, but would abandon the drivetrain. Stainless steel body is OK. It really needed more power.
  14. The photo is a 1904 Pope Toledo VI I believe. The '05 Toledo has rear side doors on their models VII, IX, and X. I believe that 1904 was the last year for the rear entrance body style. It is possible that an '04 model could have been made in late '03. These early models may have started production in late '03 and carried over designs during the '04 production run. Nice photo by the way.

    Model A wheel

I have a complete set of screw on Model T caps with the same "Bool" or "Fool" script. J.C. Whitney used to sell these years ago. I have not seen these on Model A caps. Thanks for posting.
  16. Could be a Mitchell. The tops are different, two glass windows vs. one window. One looks right hand drive and the other left hand drive. Nice pictures.
  17. Thanks Vicente, Happy Holidays from cold and snowy Bloomington, Minnesota Skip Anderson
  18. Great video. Wish I could recognize more of the autos. The early Cadillacs I could make out. Thanks for sharing.
  19. Ed, what is the big secret? I don't care about the value, but I would like a little history lesson. I have only seen one of these, and that was about 30 years ago. It did not have an ID tag, and was in a badly worn condition. Send me a message if you would. Thanks
  20. I have had it both ways, sellers remorse and buyers remorse. If it was a good buy or a bad buy I guess that is how we learn. Buying a vehicle with a bill of sale only is just asking for trouble. I know from a bad experience. I recently sold a vehicle that I had for 35 years, and I made sure that the new owner had copies of every receipt, and notes covering every piece of research relating to the car. The new owner (in his 20's) and his dad were as excited as I was when I first purchased the auto many years ago. Pass the torch in a rewarding way!
  21. These photos are a few years old, but expressions tell it all. The old car bug has bitten my grandsons. They are 13 & 10 now and they love checking out the garage when they come over. Especially the Corvette. The Ford was sold last year, and there were some sad faces, but a ride in the Vet cured that in a hurry. Neighbor kids and parents walk by all the time and love to talk about old cars. When they see a 113 year old auto in the garage they are amazed at the early design and simple construction. Always talk with the youngsters, they are our future.
  22. Sweet ride Lebowski, it brought back memories of the one I purchased in th fall of '69. SS 396, Cortez Silver, cowl inducted, 375 hp, 4 speed hardtop. The '70 had more power, and I like both years equally however
  23. It looks like New Jersey does not have many sites, but "pure-gas.com" shows 8 locations. The price/gallon is outrageous. Maybe a little more research would help. Any New Jersey members care to comment? Best of luck in your search.
  24. So much has been written about the ethanol problem out there and Mrspeedyt is right on. Buy ethanol free gas. It is available, more expensive, but it is available. I buy it all the time for boat motors, Corvette, mowers, Model A and T, and buy ethanol gas for the modern car and truck. I won't go into how I messed up the Corvette with Ethanol gas. If you made a metal heat shield, that may be a problem. I have talked with a few guys that have used the old style muffler wrap on their carbs. It looks like 1-inch wide asbestos tape from years ago. Works great for keeping the heat from transferring in tight spots. Hope you find a solution.
  25. Thanks Lump, The paint I am not sure of, I believe that there was some panel repaint due to fading and minor bubbling around the wheel trim. It was never hit or had panel replacement. Upholstery is original with the exception of the plastic front seat back panels. The original red faded so badly that they turned almost pink. They were replaced (from GM stock) in the 80's. We will search out the build sheet and protect-o-plate this winter.
