One more thing:  if you are still planning to install factory air in that car you cannot install a rear speaker after the evaporator unit is installed; and probably cannot install the evaporator unit with a speaker installed; there is not enough extra metal to fabricate a drop in from the top.

Have you tried doing a GOOGLE antique radio knobs search for your pointer knob? Here's one of many that might be able to lead  point you in the right direction if they don't have anything close.   http://www.oldradioparts.com/knobs.htm

3D printing could be another option. Do you have a sketch with rough dimensions?
