Phil Knapp Posted January 17, 2015 Share Posted January 17, 2015 When the spare tire is folded out of the trunk, it is to gain access to the contents of the trunk.(It then makes a nice base for a picnic table. That's what we used it for.)When the spare is needed, just remove the hubcap and the lug nuts, pull the spare out and leave the bracket in place. Oh, the car has a very vague history. The guy I bought it from thought it was a Packard. It is from the Baldwinsville-Syracuse, New York area. Any help with its history would be greatly appreciated.
