Why are original style seating upholstery so hard to do?  I can’t believe the old car hobby has not found a way to provide original style upholstery.

SMS has always been way behind on filling orders so demand is there.  But for these casual owners such as this car, how can an owner compromise so much as to reupholster in such a non correct way?

I like this car a lot. Great styling IMO, you could not lose this car in a parking lot. I do agree with Mr. Moran that a better job could have been done on the interior. To piece meal this looks awkward to me, but might have been a budget issue. As the car has been stored for a long-time a thorough inspection would be necessary. GLWTS

I think the obviously wrong interior will make the

car hard to sell--and impossible to sell at the $16,500

asking price.

Maybe the owner is on the outskirts of the hobby.

He enjoyed the plunge into his first antique car, but

didn't know where to get the correct fabric or

wide whitewall tires.

Though I am not a fan of mid to late 50's Lincolns, this on look pretty good! What is astonishing about the seats is not only is it the wrong fabric but they made absolutely no attempt in making the colors match or the stitch pattern match the existing interior.  It's almost as if the seats were swapped with another car!  GLWTS

As we all know, cars look better in photos than real life. That dent on the right quarter suggests that it may be a tad shabby upon close actual inspection.

'56 Lincoln's are very attractive in the 2 door hardtop, and this is a nice color combo. The '57 restyle ruined the looks.

Prices have settled back from a peak 10-15 years ago in my informal estimation.

Not surprised it sold at 11k. As far as the upholstery goes, they might be some of those tailor fit slip over covers. I had some in my '63 olds because I couldn't spring for new seats. The original covers are left intact and you measure the seat dimensions and make templates and send them to the company. Cost me $300 back then. Decent quality and very comfortable, but obviously not original. Mine looked very similar to what's in this Lincoln, so probably not an upholstery replacement on this car.
