Reynard
https://goldcountry.craigslist.org/cto/d/pine-grove-1973-ford-pinto-two-door/7660984510.html For sale is a low mile, one family owned, super clean, running and driving classic Pinto wagon. It has 66k miles on a four cylinder engine with a four speed manual transmission. It has a new clutch, master cylinder and brakes, carb rebuild and more. It starts right up and drives nice. It has current tags and clean title. The body and interior are in great original condition. Drive it and save gas, join a Pinto club, or restore it and have fun. Leif in Calif
I think these cars were generally good reliable transportation, they just had that easily corrected design flaw.

As an ex motorcycle rider and racer, we motorcycle riders sat on the fuel tank so Pinto cars are not any big deal for us😀. 7
AzBob
It could be worse. You could have 10 gallons of gas sitting just ahead and over your lap as in the Model A Ford.😱🙂 Edited September 1, 2023 by AzBob (see edit history) 4

m-mman
Oh the courage and great personal risk it takes to operate an old car. 2 2
Gearheadengineer
If I remember right (and that’s not a small risk these days), the Pinto wagon had a different fuel tank and filler design and did not have the explosion risk like the other models. Crazy to think of how many people smoked back in the day, mere inches from 18 gallons of gasoline!

Wait - I still do sometimes. Drank out of a funnel many times too, but that’s a totally different safety issue. 😀
Xander Wildeisen
It is only a safety issue, if there is a concern.🤔🤨

Xander Wildeisen
Can’t put a happy face on that one. What are the odds people will receive any compensation.
Brooklyn Beer
Lucky I was never stationed there but guys I served with who did died at a greater rate from covid as well. Covid seemed to ramp up the cancers. I can't even get hearing aids from the VA
