Original paint

I’m planning to repaint my db once it’s back together. I don’t know what paint was used.
It could have been nitrocellulose lacquer but I think it’s too new for that paint. I think in 25 it was some sort of single stage acrylic enamel. If anyone knows what was done at the factory please let me know.
I plan to use Dodge Brothers Blue 2.

Nitrocellulose lacquer.

Dupont’s “Duco” was the first developed specifically for the automotive industry at this time, the specific need was to spray rather than brush and the drying time enhanced. A car would take a week to paint prior to the invention of “Duco”.

Acrylic lacquer did not come into vogue until the 1950’s

Tut, tut tut.  You'll lose HPOF points.

Oil smoke blue might be a good choice.

DB used Ditzler products. The loose parts were dipped in black enamel. The main body was painted black enamel with a garden hose then baked, we have actual video. The blue on closed cars was called colored varnish. It was probably brushed on and sanded and polished. Painting the car will cause you to fail at HPOF, even if you use a garden hose. The O in HPOF is for original. Not with parts if could have came from the factory with but exactly with the stuff it came from the factory with. Original paint, upholstery, top, etc. Wear items like tires car be replaced.

I am going to repaint  my 26 dodge blue. The 25 will remain as is.
