This looks very nice, and thanks, Steve, for

sharing the find!

This example has a manual transmission.  When

did Chevrolet's automatic transmission begin?

John:

Folks got the pleasure to "slip and slide with Powerglide" for 1950.  It was introduced as a $159 option on Deluxe Series 2100 HK.  The Bel Air two door hardtop join that year as well, became immediately popular.

Neil agree on some level but part of me thinks oh my, you buy a paint job and get a very, very nice car for free.

This seems like one of those cars where condition and presentation tops bodystyle as it is a 6 window sedan.  Not ugly but least desirable for that series.  But it wears the color well, and if it is mechanically as good as it looks it would be a great car for someone.

Funny, some cars stick in your head.  This one reminds me of a black 47 or 48 Pontiac sedan dad and I looked at around 77 or 78, at a swap up in Foxboro at the old Patriots Stadium.  It was in this kind of shape.  He wanted it, I didn't.  So we passed on it for father and son type project (that wasn't a project).  I was gravitating towards junkers but "better bodystyles"  beyond our abilities as novice hobbyists.  The 41 Plymouth I ended up with was ok but nowhere near as nice and I am reminded of that on occasion to this day. 🙄😊

What is that white needle on the speedometer facing 25MPH?

It appears to be a reflection, not a needle.  It doesn't show up in the general instrument panel view.

It's a very nice car indeed! I don't know about the wood grain on the dash and door panels; it looks splotchy!

The woodgrain doesn't look like the interior woodgrain I remember in either one of my 48 Chevys. Maybe it's just faded & lost itls clear coat. Or maybe different factories did different woodgrains?
