Kolorkardz booklet with Nazi stamp???

So we recently purchased a 1946 Ford Super Deluxe convertible and it came with a lot of cool stuff. Like the original tool kit, manuals, gas rationing sticker and brochures/ads. It also came with an original Ford paint chip color booklet “Kolorkardz” On the back of the booklet there is a German stamp with a swastika??? I can’t seem to find anything online - does anyone know what this is about? Was the paint company affiliated with the Third Reich? Or was the previous car owner a Nazi? Yikes!

"Antique Auto" color cards? For 1946? When was that published? 1970s?

The Nazi stamp must have been a sick joke.

I was finally able to find something similar online and you are absolutely right! Published in 1970s. What a weird thing to do!

A gas rationing sticker is also inappropriate for a 1946 automobile as gas rationing ended in 1945. No doubt some stuff added by a past collector hobbyist.

Good point! Maybe all the stuff we have isn’t original (part of the car) but just collected over the years. Hard to know.

The wording on the stamp translates to:  Bromberg Police Officer in Command of the Uniformed Police.

Although everything official at that time had the swastika included, this was just a stamp of the regular state police force.  Not the Gestapo or any para-military police force.

There is no official reason for it to be on this booklet.   As stated above, someone added it.

I've said it countless times and can say it again "People do strange things" (and many do it just to earn a buck or two).

My guess on this is that someone might've stamped the booklet in attempt/effort to fool somebody else and perhaps even to sell it as something rare and valuable.

Tons of cars or other items have been marketed/sold as originally (but not really) owned/used/slept in by -- insert your favorite historical individual -- and there's always those  who fall for these scams.

The book is an aftermarket and relatively unimportant item. Despite claims printed in it its not an acceptable piece of documentation for your car. Rip off and destroy the back page if it bothers you. Chances are there is nothing of importance printed on the other side.

It may be a preproduction Ford Thunderbird teaser like the Tucker items that were marketed. In that year the wire wheel cover design would not have been finalized but if you double the spokes it comes close to the 1955 design.

There were also a few Nazi enclaves in Oregon in the 1950s who traveled to the Argentine disguised as Pan American racers. Rumor has it a few are still in the Bend area.
