RichBad Posted March 14, 2021 Author Share Posted March 14, 2021 Bit more progress this week - John, Trevor and some help from Ian Rear springs and shackles fitted, rear axle finished off and fitted and brake lines connected (brake re-lining still to do). Greased all shackles / tie rod ends / king pins. Removed gearbox and checked clutch /throw out bearing condition. All hydraulic lines clipped in place, wiring loom fitted to chassis and rear shock absorbers attached. Wheels, tyres and rims disassembled. One tyre/tube wasn't in good shape so will be replaces and the wheels, rims and brake drums will be cleaned and repainted. Running boards stripped ready for cleaning and painting. Ancillary components stripped off motor for a clean-up/repaint. Manifold heat control unit repaired and re-painted. Camshaft and followers removed for a regrind (and better profile). Starter motor and generator cleaned up and painted. Wheel rims cleaned and painted and 2 new tyres, tubes and rust bands fitted Carb cleaned and repaired Brake shoes relined and ready for refitting tomorrow. Blocked back all the primer to find a few ups and downs in all the panels. primer blocked back. filling the low spots before more blocking down. Mattml430 Posted March 26, 2021 Share Posted March 26, 2021 Final coat of high build primer on and now ready to sand the inside and give it a coat of satin black before the blue top coat on the outside. Bit of timber work still to go in the back but John and Rich are almost finished in there. A couple of encapsulated nuts to weld in also. this is the blue we have picked. RichBad Posted March 27, 2021 Author Share Posted March 27, 2021 Another full days work with Matt and JJ fuelled by Jude’s Brownies:) Matt knocked up a pair of new running boards in a blink of an eye. We finished off the wood work repairs in the rear tub and the wheels now have a coat of epoxy. Cheers!! yes that was Ted’s idea , great choice. The turn table is my wooden spoke wheel facing machine.
