RichBad is the honeycomb radiator rebuilt? Did you replace the core. I am using the original radiator in my DA6 truck and have found some clogging. See my tread in this forum.

Yes, completely rebuilt with a new core.  Didn’t want to take any chances given this car could be used by various club members.

Work continuing to progress this week.  Matt finished off the paintwork on the bonnet/hood and dashboard and Trevor, John and Lindsay have been busy continuing to put her all back together.

  • Front and rear floor sections final fit and screwed down.
  • Fitted the dash panel and instrument cluster.
  • Ran the HT coil wire from distributor through the firewall and connected to coil.
  • Fitted a top radiator hose.
  • Wired up starter switch, engine now turns over on the starter.
  • Set up the spare tyre carrier.
  • Fitted steering wheel centre controls.
  • Stripped the windscreen pillars for plating and restored the windscreen and rubbers.  The glass has the AS/NZS 2080 stamp which indicates it is laminated and has come up very nicely.
  • Made new bumper plates, just need polishing.  New bumper has been made from stainless and will be polished.

Cracking progress last week by Trevor, John and Lindsay - shouldn’t be too long before we had her up and crank her over (petrol tank is cleaned and ready for juice).

New radiator hoses fitted with a removable filter in the top hose.

Dash all fitted and wired up and modern temp gauge added for safety (as a club car various people could be driving her so don’t want to leave anything to chance).

Door catches and latches fitted to all four doors (thanks for plating Matt).

New front seat wood base made.

Seat spring frames cleaned up and painted.

New bumpers and custom mounts made and trial fitted.  They have come up really well. They have been made from stainless steel and will be polished - that will look very close to nickel and any scratches and scrapes can easily be polished out.

Progress has been slowed a little over the last couple of weeks with lockdown 5.0 in Melbourne but with that lifting I’m Wednesday the team have been back at it and a huge milestone this week (hopefully the link works).

Few bit’s and pieces were finished up before the start - finished the fuel and vacuum piping + throttle linkages.

Spun the engine over without plugs to establish oil pressure, then with only minor adjustments to spark and carby settings, Doc’s Dodge burst into life.

Gents, with the steering gear box on the same side as the Carb, how much gap is there between the two?

Can you fit the neck of a four-ex beer bottle between it?

I haven't been on here for a while so have missed your wonderful work. Awesome stuff! It's given me fresh inspiration to get more done on mine, so finally managed to free off a seized damper/shock absorber last night after months of soaking. Where did you get the strapping for Doc's ones? Also where did you get the radiator recored?- we have Replicore here but they don't do the right type of honeycomb.

Thanks!

the strapping came from one of our members who had some left over but Old Era services also sell it I believe.

The radiator was done locally (Melbourne) but the core was made in New Zealand (can’t remember the company name).

I found some time to get back onto Doc’s guards today. I’ve blocked them all back and undercoated them all again so tomorrow I’ll fine sand them and do all the satin black on the inner guards. We have a nice day coming up on Thursday so I plan to get them finished in black topcoat in the early AM.

Matt I see that you still havent fixed that tire on the forklift , been some time now and I know that Dodges must come before that gets done . ha ha ha just being picky in you pics background  ,. bob

Bob I keep putting air in that tyre almost every day but every morning when I come out it has been stolen again. Someone is only stealing the air from that tyre and no other ones. I just don’t get it. I will set up a camera to see who’s doing it. They need to do something more constructive with their time it’s becoming annoying. 😁

They look a bit wobbly, like they have been through an earthquake.

I shit myself just quietly. I had 4 other guards that I’m doing for Stu and John’s ambulance and they were shaking on the rack.
At first I thought it was hail hitting my roof on the shed and then a BDouble truck coming down our lane way at full speed. Then I realised it was an earthquake hitting us so I went outside and left the shed to shake on its own.
Just watching the news and looking around the house there’s not a straight picture on the wall.
As if we didn’t have enough to deal with in Melbourne.
It’s a shame a big crack didn’t open up a swallow all the protesters in Melbourne. Selfish bloody mongrel’s.

Hello Ron,

We don't have many Kangaroos conducting English classes over here nor do I wish to regress in my speaking capacities!

As an English man in Australia on an American forum I think I might just bite my tongue;)

Top looks OK, just rotate it 180 and put the flat bit at the top and she’ll be fine;)

This is why we get so much done over here we don’t stuff about waffling all day. We just shorten everything so we can understand it. Leaves more time for havin a cuppa in the mornin and a stubby in the arvo. Then have some tucker watch a bit a Tele and hit the sack and have a kip.  👍😂

Thrown a bit in there for our fellow kiwis. They get out of the fart sack a couple of hours earlier than we do.

Thanks for correcting that for me Ron. Personally I like mud guards because that’s pretty much what they do other than looking good.

Ron, you can call them anything you like as far as I am concerned. Just point a finger in the picture so we know what you are talking about. But what the H is a cobber?

In truth the word “Cobber” is a colloquial term for a friend or colleague.

It only used by those few who cannot spell colleague. 😂😂😂

That puts me straight into the cobber department as I can’t spell to save my life. I only went to school to eat my lunch and do woodwork. 😂
