Could the owner of such a nice $75,000 car

really be semi-literate?  We all mistype occasionally,

but who owns a LaSalle and can't spell the name?

Would he really write with no punctuation?

I see a few other misspellings, such as "intrested."

Could this be a scam?

Only one way to know for sure: call the number and talk directly with the seller.  If it is a scam, we'll note it as such to warn off others.

Probably texted the Info on his phone.  I would bet it's Legit.  How many cars have you seen someone try scamming at Full book plus price.  The idea is to get people to contact you.  not overprice a car to discourage them from.

As with any old car advertisement, whether Craigslist or other sources, caveat emptor is always the appropriate approach, regardless of age.

There's no problem, Mr. 58LY8, in posting such ads;

in fact, you and Fin-Seeker have made this category

very interesting, and one of the Forum's most popular

categories.

 

We're only critiquing the ad, not you!   Just as we

may assess the correctness of the engine compartment

or the upholstery.

 

Auburn Seeker makes the good point that scammers

typically don't overprice cars.  So maybe the seller is

a language-challenged son of an educated, deceased

long-term owner.  Who knows?  But our cautions might

alert any prospective buyer to ask plenty of questions.

If someone bought a car here because of the corrected advertisement and got screwed I would still 100% blame the buyer for being an idiot.

 

The phone explanation has a ring of truth,  but people do too much on their phones these days,  perhaps not everyone has a computer?

I worked for a guy raised in the woods of West Virginia. He could barely spell , or put a sentence together on paper that you could read.

He was a great mechanic and a good business man , he could afford several of those cars , and not miss the money.

If I wanted that car , I would dial the number and have a conversation. Then I would decide for myself.

Not to put down any one stating an opinion here , just saying not is always what it seems.
