Ovalrace25
I just finished this rebuild. Actually, this one is the marine engine and goes in a restored 22' Shepard Mahogany boat. I also have another 356 that will be on a display stand. The other engine is the passenger car specification. The marine version is a right hand rotation, yes, opposite rotation from the car engine.

Ovalrace25
The plan was to have the boat at the Packard Western Nationals and Rohnert Park California the end of June but of course all that's canceled. So after we get the thing back together I'll post some pictures.
Zimm63
Didn't the WWII PT boats use multiple Packard engines?

Nick Dawson
Hello, this is quite the coincidence. I just acquired a Packard straight 8 for the 1948 22’ Shepherd I’m restoring. My boat, apparently, is 1 of 2 that was special ordered with no MIL seating. can you tell me the configuration of your boat?
Ovalrace25
WOW! Actually it is not my boat, I just saved the engine from a poor rebuild. I will attache a few photos tomorrow.. I am just heading to a CCCA board meeting.. I see a few differences on your engine. More later!
Nick Dawson
👍 You can see there’s a major crack/repair in the water jacket. Hoping for the best. This is my boat. I’m a shipwright by trade, and have saved a few boats in this state.
