Period images to relieve some of the stress

Looks like a 1925 license plate on the Packard.  For Iowa farm country in the '20s that is a pretty expensive automobile.  A Ford Model T or a Chevrolet would have been more common.  These are very good and interesting photos.  The Rickenbaker photos were really nice.

Anyone know the story of Packard with the "Official Lincoln Highway Packard" painted on the side of the cowl?  The Lincoln Highway was an early transcontinental highway route from Times Square (or possibly Walt's house) in NYC to Lincoln Park in San Francisco.  It was first conceived in 1912 and by 1924 it's designation was gradually changed to the U.S. Numbered Highway system in 1926.  Hence, seeing the "Official Lincoln Highway Packard" painted on the the "Official" Packard, could this be a Packard publicity run at the end of and change over to the re-designation of the Lincoln Highway to the newer U.S. number system?

And BTW, this is not to be confused with the automobile "Lincoln Highway" that was produced by the American Motorette Company of Detroit in 1914.  Photo of a 1914 Lincoln Highway attached.

That's a rare one.  Looks like a 1929 Oakland All American 6 Landaulet Sedan.  I wonder if there are any of that body  style surviving.  I know of a handful of Pontiacs with that body style that survived.  Thank for sharing  that photo.

("Or possibly Walts house"... love the subtle humor in your post ;)

Yes, this must be the publicity run at the conversion.
