arnier
Anyone have a vacuum advance that will fit a 56 buick century. 55 will also fit
Beemon
Best to spend the money on a rebuilt unit with new rubber. Any NOS or junkyard unit will be dry rotted from sitting so long. If you can find yourself a 57 and later distributor, they're only $15 over the counter.
auburnseeker
NOS ones will not always be dry rotted. It all depends on storage. Hot dry attic, good chance it will be shot. (easiest part to check in the world). Cold garage or basement, it will be in the same new condition it was boxed in. I have pulled rubber weatherstrip from the 30's out of packages that was like it was made yesterday. it's all about storage. Pete Phillips
I have some NOS ones for 1954-56 322 engines, but after the above comments, you may not want it. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338

Bloo
You would want the NOS for judging. If you are going to drive it go for new rubber. Vacuum advances aren't a high reliability part under the best of conditions. A brand new advance can usually lasts about 5 years or maybe 60,000 miles. If you get more, chalk it up to good luck and smile.
auburnseeker
And brand new parts made today fail in short time as well. It's all a crap shoot.
