  6. Is there a schematic on here that shows the order of parts assembly for a 51-3 horn button? I got the wheel to put on my 40 and there seems to be a lot more parts than I remember when I got it.
  7. In the time since I got it I've been through 6 motorhomes still have two, bought and sold 4 Buicks still have two, motorcycles too many to remember still have 2 and doing a light restore on my really nice 52 F1.Some of this activity has taken time from the 40 but as of now I'm down to front alignment, charge the a/c first time, and a really good fluff and buff. And I need a year of manufacture 40 Washington plate. All retirement fun.

  9. I just got done installing weatherstrip to all 4doors on my "phantom" 40 today. It's a 3m product, round bulb type with self stick base. Thinking about it for hood to cowl. Being rubber I'm wondering if it would stick to the hood when it got warm. Anybody use this product?

  14. First drive for my 40 special sedan since the original owner parked it in 71. I got it around 2004-6. Small recap: frame on, stock body, red/black vinyl interior, twin carb/ exhaust 41 super fresh build, stock trans,3.60 gear out of 50 special. Red stock wheels wide whites fatman 2" dropped spindles. So just went around a 4 block area to get oil circulating and heat up. 180 degrees and stayed there. Only issue was fan belt slipping and bad fuse in stereo. Maybe tomorrow will be a bit of fluff and buff.
  15. Update:dog knocked it over and it's a 2 piece mustache now which will make it easier to ship.If no interest it goes to the scrap trailer
  16. Thanks guys I didn't know that.
  17. I have this piece which I will never use and while it needs work I thought I'd throw it on here to see if anyone feels ambitious. Chrome stripped and nearly cracked in half. Take a look and if interested let me know.
  18. I had another situation back in the mid 80s when I was hot into mopars. For years I would travel around the general 3 state area of WA,CA,OR, looking for parts. I had a 64 Sport Fury,64 Belvedere,65 Belvedere 63 Sport Fury and 63 Savoy all 2 drs. These cars were plentiful in the wrecking yards then.Started noticing the radio delete plates for these cars creeping up till they were asking 80 to 100 each on ebay. I had over two hundred of them from all my travels but never paid more than a dollar for one.So I see an ad for a mint one from a 64 savoy on hemmings for $75 which I had 15 or so of that style. That kinda ticked me off cause I could see the general upturn in prices for all mopars since the great HEMI stampede of the time. So I kept a couple for me and put them all for sale for a dollar each. Waited for the flood of inquires which was barely a trickle. I finally did sell them all after a year or so but in that period of time everybody quit advertising high priced ones. They are repro'd now.
  19. I was looking at a part one time for my 40 special, the chrome strip down the center of the grille. The best I could come up with was a dented one a guy in LaGrande Oregon had for $350 needing rechrome. Was'nt desperate at the time but I watched for a year, never wavered from the price. Called and got the familiar spiel( I know what I've got no lowball. I came up to $100 offer and you'd thought I had just stolen his wife and dog! So no thanks and the next day a guy in North central Washington put a 40 special and century, both sedans on craigslist for $700 and one had a perfect chrome strip. Bought both and the special which was rotted beyond repair had a fresh 51 263 engine. Got all the spares I needed also and sold the hulks for $650. Can't always find parts cars cheap but I've done this on other cars also and it worked out.
  20. I'm guessing this would be at the fairgrounds? Bring your popup shade cause the facility I think has two maybe three trees and it'll be 100 degrees. Goodguys has their event around that time.Do em both.
  21. I'm looking for a known working good clock.I believe 40-47 are the same.
