MrEarl
Looks like I need to be reading up on some operation and technical aspects of the '38 that has moved into my garage. Firstly, I have a nice condition owners manual on its way but before spending the big eBay bucks on shop manuals I thought it best to determine just what I will need. Are there any other manuals or literature aside from the 1938 Shop Manual that I should be on the look out for. And secondly, does anyone have an original good condition Shop Manual you would like to sell. Thanks in advance for any info and help in finding one.
dracenroc
I think there is not much more. You will find some sales brochures, the standard catalog and a booklet called "Buick Cars 1929-1939" which is a summary of contemporary news paper articles and test drive reviews. For the body there will be a Fisher "Manual of Construction and Service, 1937&1938". Interesting information you will also find here http://www.1937and1938buicks.com like Kendall lubrication charts and Thompson tune up & repair information, as an example. Great to hear the '38 made it into your garage!
LAS VEGAS DAVE
The reproduction shop manual is all you need if you work on the car yourself. Original ones come on eBay occasionally and are usually not expensive.

1939_Buick
By this request we assume you are now a real Buick owner (Straight 8's are great!) Look here http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/ Search for Buick. The 1942 Shop Manual is very good:-: worth downloading Far better than the 1938 Other Buick document threads http://forums.aaca.org/topic/218241-found-cheap-master-parts-books-on-cd/ http://forums.aaca.org/topic/124104-buick-books-etc/ http://forums.aaca.org/topic/65689-the-buick-owners-bookshelf/ Edited April 15, 2017 by 1939_Buick (see edit history)
DonMicheletti
The old Torque Tube magazines have a wealth of information on '38's. Check Frank Fredas index for subject and then go to issue. http://www.1937and1938buicks.com/The-Torque-Tube/The-Torque-Tube.htm
