MrEarl
Just put $3000 on your hip and $295 in your console and hit the road Matt, I'm sure there's a uhaul trailer rental there.
Beemon
Only the Roadmaster had the 322, correct? Or did other models have it in 1953?
Kosage Chavis
I might be able to swing there today or tomorrow when I have more time. What would you want me to do?
Kosage Chavis
Just texted the guy (Ernest). Says that I can come after 5 today or tomorrow. Also said he had a couple of people looking at it tomorrow, so if anyone is seriously considering buying this car, might want to make the trip today. This car seems like its worth more than the asking price.

Kosage Chavis
Okay, so I will be swinging by his way just after 5 today to look at the car. I will take pictures and post. I will do my best to cover what is important.
Kosage Chavis
Just got done talking to the guy and looking over the car. Got him to go down to 3000 if interested. Drives very nicely and is a pretty solid car. All power (seats, windows, brakes, steering, rear speaker). 322 engine. One window has hairline crack. Some rust through on the trunk floor. Body is very solid, only noticed one spot where there was some puddy. I would jump on this car

Kosage Chavis
Pictures came out better than what I thought (for the exception of the trunk photo). Hope this helps. Portholes have been sprayed over and some may need replacing if you want to have refurbished.Engine compartment. Car starts up with no problem. There is a tick in the valves, but other than that, runs nicely. Engine is relatively clean. No smoking or hesitation.Radio and clock are an unknown. Forgot to ask about the vent blower. Windshield wipers work fine. Power seats are funtional (just fwd and back). Front and rear seats have been re-upholstered. Power windows are not functional. Rear driver's side window has a hairline crack.Power brakes and power steering work well. Headliner is in very good shape.Trunk compartment had some rust- through. Needs to be patched and upholstered. Most of the chrome is solid, but a little rough in some places. The body is very solid and just by glancing over it, looked to need only a little attention herehubcaps look good.some trims is lose, but all there.trunk ornament is a little rough.other area prone to rusting are solid hereand here.needs a little repaire in this area.Hope this helps you make a decision. Ask if you need something or need some other details.
NC-car-guy
Wow Kosage, you did a nice investigation! This seems like a cool car (other than in summer with the windows stuck up). If he doesnt sell it to one of tomorrow's lookers, I might try a gamble, offer him a 1 or 2 hundred dollar non_refundable holding fee for 2 weeks to see what my bonus might be. This seems like a cool car (other than in summer with the windows stuck up). Strange the windows are in the up position. They rely on the hydraulics to keep them up and have large springs to pull the glass/frames back down. I have found that they usually "leak" down to the open position. I would say the the asking price is very much in line. A very well equipped 53.

Beemon
If so, these 53 Roadmasters have 12x2.5" drums which go a long way further than the 12x2.25" drums that were standard. More surface area and what not.
MrEarl
It appears the car was originally blue and was repainted? did you detect any body repair or bonds areas? What is the quality of he repaint?

What is the quality of he repaint? Yes. From the looks if it, it looks repainted. However, the quality of the repaint is good. Didn't see any peeling paint. There was only one small area that I saw some bubbling. Also, I saw one small area where bonding was used (at the bottom rear corner where the rear driver's door is at. At the top of the car towards the rear window, that part of the body was a little wavy. Hope that makes sense.
