Just got an email from “Rubber the Right Way” that the windshield seal is on the way. Next will be the rest of the glass and trim. All interior is done and waiting except the headliner that will be installed  by the upholsterer. In the meantime a well deserve bath to remove garage dust. This is how “Toby” stands today.

Looking great.  Nice work!   Now the difficult part....which one to drive?   I think the 54 will be resting on it's wheels for a while.

The plan is to bring both to the double car garage then I might flip a coin but you are correct, first few shows will be the Super cause nobody has seen it. Just need a little longer to finished it. Today the windshield was installed and the rest of the glass has been cut but the glass man said to give him couple of weeks but I know with the coming holidays that will be a little longer. Next will be trunk, headliner and to wrap all interior which is ready to go

Rear armrest installed. I can’t install the seats until the headliner is installed. The upholsterer can’t touch the car until mid-January. Just done on me by looking at the picture that the upper strip of material is improperly secured. I will need that extra length to tuck the material when the armrest is on down position as shown. Learning as I go along since I got this car with the interior completely disassembled.

I did my headliner with seats in. Not fun but non-the-less it would have been easier with the seats out.   Mid Jan is not to far off.  It will be here before you know it!

The story of this car! Another setback but already a costumed to this peripecia.

Installed package shelf and front and rear window garnish moldings. The moldings are not fully fastened due to future headliner installation, this way the headliner material can be tucked as needed

Very nice finishing work! May I ask where you got the carpets?

This is a loop pile cut, Got it from CARS. The instructions do not show the manufacturer. When I did my 54, I bought a Daytona cut from OC Carpets.

I believe it is the style of weave used in the cars up to 56.  Not certain if it was used in the cars after 56 AND I am not certain that it is the name of the weave.  The carpets in Toby do look correct to me.  I hope I got the name correct.

What is Daytona Weave?

Daytona Weave Carpet is a premium automotive carpet that was originally used by GM beginning in the mid 1950's. Daytona weave carpet is composed of Cotton, Nylon, and Rayon yarn.

Thanks.  I am hearing that Daytona Weave carpets may no longer be available.  I don't know if that's true or not.

There are few suppliers on the internet just search for Daytona Weave Automotive Carpet.

Also sun visor holes remains on plain sight for headliner material. But all screws are in place. Just making it easy for the installer. I have not done it before, don’t want to screw it up at the last minute

Felt whiskers were installed on both door rear windows opening along with brackets for secondary belt moldings, tomorrow I will do the front doors since I have to fabricate defective molding attachment ends.

These are the molding ends I was talking about, they looked like some type of brass rivets. I don’t remember how were they secured to the holes in the car. I will just tap into them when in position to expand and hope stay in place. These moldings goes around the door window openings and have additional screw holes to attach to window frames

One of three granddaughters sitting in the front seat that I temporarily installed so I can drive the Super to the upholstery lady who is going to install the headliner. Still waiting for the right vent window seals that I sent back to Steele Rubber, once I receive them, my glass man can finish all door window glass.

Driving Toby about 20 miles to get the headliner installed. First drive since I got the car. All gauges in working order and a smooth ride on the bias  ply tires. Did not let me down. I did not know my friend that was to pick me up was videotaping while I was driving the car, glad he did. Noticed the left rear wheel trim ring is not properly set.
